koei pledges revolution support.

Quote:
Long-time developer Koei, well-known for its Romance of the Three Kingdoms franchise, recently announced support for Nintendo’s next-generation console.

Although a good deal of Koei’s Tokyo Game Show presentation consisted of PlayStation 3 content, Koei Founder and Chairman Keiko Erikawa used a Q&A session to respond to questions concerning the company’s commitment to other platforms. "We also have plans for the Xbox 360 and Revolution as well...and the PC is included in that as well," Erikawa said. "We are committing ourselves to creating new types of games for each of those platforms, so we hope you'll look forward to those.”

will look for more detailed source, but sound beleiveable.

Don't forget Kojima...he seems pumped. Nothing formal, but he definitely wants to do *something* for Revolution.

You guys are getting way too excited over run-of-the-mill interview answers and press releases.

However, here's hoping for some free-hand Gitaroo Man action, bitches.

Like he wanted to do "something" for the Gamecube, right? What about the family game he had announced years ago? Not saying he's a liar, but unless something concrete is shown, I'm going to assume that all of his creative juices will be invested in Sony.

KOEI didn't even develop Mystic Heroes actually, that was Shade (who's claim to fame is being made up of primairily ex-Quintet and ex-Falcom staffs).

I pledge Revolution support.

quick, someone make a thread

but seriously, its not like anyone has pledged any actual games, or at least, said any are in development...
I certaintly don't expect this system launching before next November.

Square Enix announced FFCC2.

I think Nintendo announced it only, right?
Square hasnt specifically said a peep, have they?

And they may 'plan' on developing it, but that doesn't mean they have begun actual coding yet...

Why, does anyone expect the system to launch before the fall next year?

Isn't KOEI behind the Brandish series? I loved that game back in the SNES days. It was a nice dungeon crawler that punished you severely for making mistakes. There were other games in that series but they never hit the U.S. =(

I would say 4 games are 100% confirmed Revolution games in development or planning stages right now.

FF:CC2
Metroid Prime 3
Super Smash Bros Rev
Zelda

You are right about one 3rd party game though.

They're behind the SNES ports, but Brandish was made by Falcom originally.

There's been 6 confirmed games from known series actually...

-Donkey Kong (Nintendo EAD)
-Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (Square Enix Division 2)
-Metroid Prime (Retro Studios)
-Super Mario (Nintendo EAD)
-Super Smash Bros (HAL Laboratory)
-The Legend of Zelda (Nintendo EAD)

Donkey Kong in development? Well sounds good but I must have missed that annoucement :/

Yeah Mario is being planned of course, but I am not sure if Nintendo has even started with it yet, but I guess you can put it down as a 100% sure game to show up sooner or later.

edit: Camelot should be working on a RPG as well.

Wow, even belgurdo is positive about the Revolution's remote now.

This I did not expect!

Well, I'm more ambivalent than positive about it right now, mainly because of the controller shells

Ruzbeh said:
I thought it was a remake or at least a port?
It's a full remake reportedly. Unlike the GBA FF ports.

Also unlike the GBA FF ports (or the PS ports or WSC remakes in which they're all based), FF3 DS is being made inhouse at Square Enix.

Was it confirmed or just a rumor awhile back when it was said Starbreeze was planning on/developing a game for Rev?

So we have a bunch of Japanese 3rd parties pledging 1-2 major titles for Xbox360 and Rev, and then 123482342+ titles for PS3.

I guess we all know where this is heading.

I think all consoles will have quality support this gen, mainly because companies can't afford to stay on one platform too much. Particularly PS3 mainly because that will have the most competition from other PS3 games and have probably the highest development costs. This was workable during PS2 era, but I think we all know PS3 just blew everything out of the water and thats bound to include costs and demands on resources.

I don't see how any but the most powerful developers will be able to provide strong support for the PS3 continuously without some kind of financial aid. They would certainly need to spread the burden abit and Rev, Ds, PSP and even GBA sound like good alternatiives for any investor.

Yup. This upcoming next generation has already been decided.

Koei may give Revolution ao RotTK game now. Would work well with the remote.

Well, there's a good chance Mikami will do something for the Revolution. However in an interview with Gamespy it looks like Keiji Inafune is also interested:

Gamespy Interview said:
Inafune: When I first saw the Revolution controller, I have to saw that it was an amazing surprise. You know that you want to use it in some way, shape or form, but you don't know how exactly. So whether I'm able to directly use it for a Mega Man game, I really can't say right now. But I can say that it definitely makes you feel potential for not only Mega Man games, but any game.
