T-minus how long before he lets the ps3 details out of the bag? (happens thursday in jpn so what time EST here in the us of a)?

These threads only build anticipation for something that may not come (i.e. ps3 news)

But it's 6.41am in Tokyo right now :P His talk is at 10.35am, so about 4 hours away. I'd make that to be 9.35pm eastern time?

Again though, I wouldn't hold my breath for anything more than interesting comment. This thing wasn't on Sony's "timetable" for PS3 at PSM.

i dont think we will see any new news on ps3. considering how the show started with nothing new related to ps3

They've got to give us somthting! It's been a while since any real PS3 news came out... but I bet there will be in about a month.

IMO people that are expecting interesting news from Kutaragi will be strongly disappointed. At 99% it will be a PR speach about the possibilities offered by PS3 in the digital era.

Agreed, I think it'll be a very "vison"-ey type speech.

No one is covering the event, not IGN, not gamespot, NOBODY! If anything did happen we will probably see it by tomorrow morning.

Isn't he presenting at some film festival? I doubt it's any major news anyway

Where is ze speech.

still nothing? the gaming press should take a 45 and put itself out of misery. pathetic. It wasn't about video games you say? When the father of the playstation starts talking about anything (be it the ps3 or toilet paper), the bums at ign and gamespot should start transcribing... ;p

That made me laugh.

Bums @ IGN, heh.

No news? Darnit. I thought Sony was supposed to have a Playstation Meeting or something this month.

I bet we'll hear something before the 360 launches.

From IGN

Sony has opted for a more Nintendo-like role for the WPC Expo, having a presence through a key note speech given by Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi. At the keynote, Kutaragi discussed the PS3 and how it will help to create a digital future.

Today's new buzzword, introduced by Kutaragi during his speech, is "Reality Synthesis." Kutaragi used this term (he said it in English) to describe what he feels is the core of the PS3: "creating a real time world in real time."

Kutaragi also tossed out many of the concepts Sony's been using in tandem with the PS3 since the start, from home servers to interconnected CELL processors. The CELL will allow for multiple streams of noise-free high definition video with a wide dynamic range and high frame rate. Using a home server featuring multiple CELL processors, you'll be able to download contents from the internet using high speed connections and up convert it in real time before playing on the PS3. And so on....

Virtual HDD bitches, "we don't need no stinking HDD" :lol :lol

I actually fully endorse using my own home PC and servers to get shit done. Would be funny if Sony can pull off a better media hub console then MS. Just have to wait and see at this point. Please stop with the buzzwords though, WTF is "Reality Synthesis." :lol :lol

Was this just the first PS3-related speech/event of many this week or not?

The last, I think. The other event/tokyo film festival is still going on, but we already know there's nothing new there.
