La Quimera: A Sci-Fi Shooter from Reburn, the New Studio Founded by 4A Games Veterans, Featuring a Script by Director Nicolas Winding Refn

From the very announcement, I was confused why anybody would be interested in this game. It looked generic and ugly in every trailer.

I keep seeing this thread, and I keep thinking:
"Gee, I'm glad my name isn't Nicholas Winding Refn."

I'm interested in the game, though, despite (or perhaps because of) its frankly bizarre aesthetic.

EDIT: 2 hours long? Uh...

So journos received the review copies, right? That would be something new if the game was delayed partially because of negative feedback from reviewers (and likely low scores).

I don't mind that the Metro studio wants a B-team to work on something else, but there's just ton of red flags here. Only around 2 hours without speedrunning the thing? Damn.

Lol it's so weird seeing my country bring protagonist on anything, I'm hyped for it BTW, since it's an old-school shooter with no BS, I played Titanfall 2 last week for first time and man, did I miss those marines dudebro shooters...

Take a look at the Early Access Launch Trailer for La Quimera, an action first-person shooter developed by Reburn. Players will make use of an advanced exosuit and high-powered weaponry to battle in the Latin American megalopolis of Nuevo Caracas and beyond. Embark on a journey about a down-on-their-luck PMC group caught up in a vast conflict between rival factions and shadowy corporations, as mystical events increasingly blur the line between reality and illusion. La Quimera is available now on PC via Steam Early Access.

I saw this earlier and now I'm very confused about whatever the hell they're doing with this game. I know it has co-op but it does not seem like the kind of game that invites multiple runs with your friends trying to get better gear, higher scores, etc. So, we have a relatively short, AA budgeted what seems to be a linear old school FPS campaign but they launch it in early access...?!?

Either I didn't understand what this game is about well enough or they're just actively trying to torpedo this new game of theirs due to confusing marketing and a weird release. Too bad as I was rather excited for an old-school FPS campaign but this just looks like an absolute mess right now.

I have to admit, my initial excitement for this has dampened the moment I heard it had a 2 hours long campaign. I really, really hope thats a deliberate choice as some part of an EA user testing phase and just an appetizer.

I'll put this one in the "check it out again once it's out of early access" list. Hope they manage to get it in some sort of shape by then. The reviews I've watched say it's 4 hours long at the moment but it's also incomplete as it ends abruptly.

This is a very strange behavior from the publisher. Instead of cancelling the project based on negative feedback or giving it a big delay they're now trying to market it as an early access title to start getting some money? Even more red flags since you don't have any guarantees that the game will be finished and improved.
