MOURNED: Memphis-born actor Lane Smith, who played Richard Nixon in the TV movie The Final Days and appeared in such films as The Legend of Bagger Vance, passing away Monday in Northridge, California of Lou Gehrig's disease. He was 69.

He was also the dad in the Pauly Shore classic Son in Law.

And he was also the prosecutor in My Cousin Vinny and the Hawks' coach in Mighty Ducks.

I liked him most in, believe it or not, Mighty Ducks and Son In Law.. enjoy both as guilty pleasures and he is a large part to why.

Ironic (I guess) that he died just a week after the first episodes from Lois & Clark hit DVD (he was pretty damn cool in that). And he was one of several cool performers in My Cousin Vinny. RIP.

Lois and Clark? Is that the show that was called 'The New Advetures of Superman' in the UK with Dean Kane? I loved that show as a child. I watched it every saturday morning on Live and Kicking.
