Largest creatures in a game.

Archie

Second-rate Anihawk
What is the largest monster that you have encountered in a video game? My nomination would be Quarm from Everquest. Quarm was the final boss in the Planes of Power expansion. He was more or less a combination of all the elemental gods, and once you killed him, there was a cop out ending where you went back in time before anything happened, but you got to keep your +200 hp items so it was all good.

Notice the tiny guy in the bottom right? That's your average player in Everquest.

one of those caterpillar type things from Earth Defence Force 2

those things are measured in miles!

SotC probably has the biggest I can think of...but here's a solid mention:

I wish MP2 wasn't so mind-numblingly boring and linear, so I could see stuff like that firsthand.

See also that giant robot guy from Ratchet and Clank 2.

no, the last boss from earth defense force 2.

now that thing is fucking ginormous

Well yeah...but it's not a creature (go semantics!)...I would say the giant godzilla. :P

that boss battle was so fucking awesome. totally worth playing the game just for that battle.

In God of War, the whole Pandora's Temple area is played on the back of some mythical dude (forget his name).

He's pretty big.

Any of the collossi in Shadow of the Colossus, hands down. That game had a knack for making you feel very small in comparison.

Quarm is massive but what about that Queen Slug-for-a-Butt (I think that was her name) from Earthworm Jim. Wasn't her entire body a level? That's what I call huge.

Half the game takes place on that dude. He has got to be the largest. My mind was blown when I got outside and could see him crawling below with the temple strapped to his back.

Topic Change! Who's the smallest boss you've ever faced?

EVIL brownie, took a raid of 100 people to kill him. The rewards were grand.
not really

Was that a GM controlled Nillipuss? Because regular Nillipuss is a one hit kill when you're like over level 20.

That kungfu master thing in Paper Mario. I can't remember exactly what he was, but he was small as hell. I chuckled when the fight began, but once he hit me I was like O_O.

Yeah, Giant Godzilla is, without a doubt, the largest moving enemy creature I've seen in a game. This includes the Painkiller bosses, the Serious Sam last boss, the Colossi, everything.

Doh! Sorry...Just got home after a little drinking. I think I'm taking everything for face value. :( I remember they had a bunch of GM controlled brownies attacking Kelethin about a year or so ago. They were seriously strong and 100% resistant to all toons over level 15 or so. It was a riot. Thought they might have done the same with Nillipus.

isn't he smaller than ragnaros seeing how ragnaros kicked his ass and all
Of course, but it's not like you get to see Prince Thunderaan trolling the plains of The Barrens regularly.

He's pretty big.

This wins it. Kronos was his name. Gai's Husband. No boss in any game is as big as he is.

Yeah, I was thinkin' Kronos after looking up a list of the Titans, but wasn't certain. Thanks :)

Yeah, I've gotta go with Kronos in God of War, too, if we're just talking creatures in a game, and not something you fight. When you get to the top of him, there are just some absolutely awe-inspiring moments up there. He takes the cake.

the planet in Sin and punishment is hard to beat, man what a game.

to that i can only add some big ones, turtle and eagle in Golden Axe, sand fish in Panzer dragoon Orta.

Ok, this leads into an interesting question... what do you mean by big? It seems we aren't talking about physical representation in a game, but by implied size... and if that's the case, don't we have games where an enemy is as big as a small planet? Isn't there a shooter out there with planet-sized aliens?

Smallest boss has got to be the goldfish in Earthworm Jim. God, that was funny.

If you're talking real scale, maybe some of teh bosses in pikmin. ;)

You're putting way too much thought into this.
