It fucking rocks, oh my :D
Even my sister who hates games plays it to death. This game is so fun, any plans for new songs on some expansion discs?

The hit-clap's are more difficuly than the clap-hits though. With clap-hit your hand is going down all the way, with hit-clap you need to go down first and then up.

It is a great non-gamer game. My girlfriend's father has played, I think, 1 game for the last 5 years. Diablo 2. That is it. But he really got into Donkey Konga when we brought it over. It only requires about 2 seconds of learning (which can be done watching other people play) and you're good to go.

Donkey Konga 2 is hitting the U.S. next year (I forget exactly when, but I think it's in March or April), and Donkey Konga 3 is already in development. :)

Also, congratulations. It's an awesome game. I'm still working on all golds on Gorilla...almost there...

Yeah that's what I meant, I was thinking of it backwards. You can't clap when you're hitting down on the bongo. Sucks, but then again, if that didn't happen, it would hear a clap everytime you'd hit the drum.

Love DK'a though. I love doing the Turkish March on Gorrila, mainly cause it's the only one I can consistantly get all Perfect/Goods on.

Sorry for pushing this old thread.
I bought this game yesterday (bongos+DKonga=19€).
It's great fun etc. :)
My Question: how can you get more than 200-300 coins from one song? I can make combos like crazy but they don't seem to affect the number of coins I get in the end....I really can't imagine how you can earn 999 coins in one song. :(

(Deletes some text)

There was at least one song that seemed to rack up more coins than the others...

iirc the big money is doing well on the harder songs.

i played the japanese version to death, but it was over a year ago now. are you looking to open more songs or buy other stuff?

i remember doing the ones i was good at many times.

i think the best strategy i found was find the most profitable song [even if you're not great at it], and keep playing it, racking up the money.

Jungle Beat (the 2.5d platformer in case anyone would be wondering for any reason) is fantastic, I'd look into getting that down the line as well.

Do "The Locomotion" or "Smash Bros" on Gorilla for good challenging fun. This is the PAL version I take it?

I had a blast with Donkey Konga. Any game that I can also get my girlfriend into, and have her enjoy along with me, gets two thumbs up from me.

Yeah, Donkey Konga is cool. Gameplay wise, DK2 is a little bit better, but the music collection is not for everyone.

My problem is not the actual songs. Sure, they could have gotten more recent stuff if they're going for mainstream, but the song selection is nice, for mainstream music. There's a good mix of rock and pop, so there is probably something for everyone. (Unless, of course, you're one of those DOWN WITH MAINSTREAM MUSIC IT HAS NO SOUL!!!!!!!!!!111 people. Then stay the hell away.)

My problem is the fact that they are all corny-sounding covers. I'd love the music selection for the "real" songs in DK1 and DK2 if they didn't have some horrible sounding copies ruining "All the Small Things" and R.E.M. for me. It just feels cheap and cheesy.

The other thing is that while DK1 didn't have enough mainstream music, DK2 has too much. With the inevitable DK3, they need a perfect mix of mainstream (by the actual artists) and video game stuff.

We hosted a game night last night and played 4-player Donkey Konga (and 2-player Taiko Drum Master) for the first time... good times, good times :D

SSBM still ruled the night, though

Easy peasy

The bongo drums don't have the dead zone of the taiko drums, and Gorilla (hardest difficulty) is easier than Hard in Taiko.

Never played Taiko, but if you're any good at Freq/Amp, you're going to absolutely blaze through Konga. Those were the only two rythm games I'd played before Konga, and even the hardest Konga songs were easy after a couple tries to get the feel for how the hits come.

Honestly, while I found Konga to be a good game, Jungle Beat is just all-around better, and should be picked up by anybody who owns the bongos.

wow, we did the same at the student center of my college, 2 TVs & 2 cubes, 4 controllers, and 4 bongos... hardcore people playing Smash and Soul Calibur, non-gamers & gamers playing Donkey Konga...

must have had 30+ people join us at some point or another...

Yeah there's something about Donkey Konga that gets people hooked, no matter who you are.

What sucks is, I don't know what it is. Maybe it's because I used to play DDR and prefer a more complicated music games, who knows. I was really psyched for Konga, I got 2 sets of bongos and everything. Not a huge let down, but, a little too easy for my liking :(
