Late To The Party: Swingers

I've seen a bunch of people talk about this movie here, and my good friend has told me it's a great movie. He bought it a while ago, but we've never got around to watching it. Finally got to watch it tonight, and it is an amazing flick.

Vince Vaughn is the man in every movie. He must have said "baby' and "money" 100 times each. Just awesome. When he's in the diner yelling, "Our little boy is grows up!" I was crying.

On the other hand, the guy I can most relate to in the movie is Mike, probably because I'm a pretty negative guy when it comes to stuff, especially girls. And the thing is just a week ago or so, my best friend (the same guy who has the movie) gave me a kick in the sack telling me to stop whining and shit, just like Mike's friends did to him in the movie. Rob's speech in the movie to Mike in his apartment is just great.

Anyhow, the movie is a classic and I will soon pick it up myself.

The whole hockey scene is a classic, and is probably replayed in the lives of people everywhere.

"Look, Mikey! I made Waynes head bleed!!"

"Michael is he clean, if he's clean have him come in for a cocktail"

"Michael is he brown"

"No, wait Michael, I want to see him"

I fuckin love every single second of this movie.

Also, to the kid who started this thread. if you loved this movie, u need to watch Made. Another awesome flick with the 2 of them.

The one scene where the guy calls back on her answering machine 20 times is fucking painful to watch. You want to punch him in the nose.

Made didn't do it for me, but it had it's moments. It's sad that even Christopher Doyle's cinematography was merely average :(

Personally, I think Made is about a million times better. While I find Swingers entertaining (particularly the NHL '94 scene), I really don't like any of the characters and would probably punch a guy if he said "money" or "baby" to me when not referring to currency or a young child respectively. Seriously, it's the Austin Powers of the early 90's.

Man, if only there was technology that would allow someone to punch another through the internet. C'mon, Gates, quit wasting your money on video games and make this happen!

That's the whole point. Trent is supposed to be a cocky asshole. And Vince Vaughn plays the role perfectly

Well, mission accomplished I guess. I don't like cocky assholes in real life and I guess I don't really like watching them in movies. Not that I think you necessarily have to like the main character(s) in a movie. My problem is that in Swingers you're supposed to and I just didn't.

By the way, I'm definitely a fan of Vince Vaughn. I don't think there's anyone on Earth that steals more scenes than he does. I swear, the best part of Oldschool was the exaggerated point he did at the screen during his show's TV commercial.

I love Swingers, but Made is pretty great too.

The scene where they argue about getting guns is hilarious.

Swingers>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Made.

I don't think it's even close. Made is boring garbage, Swingers is a great movie whose greatness is only slightly diminished by people knocking off the style afterward.

imo of course.
