Wow, good score for Sakura Taisen 5... I remember hearing that the prequel to that game was weak as all hell. Still doubt we'll ever see the series in the US, what was the big deal with the series that got it so many fanboys in the first place? The loli?

Wow, look at the Musashi scores. I guess they reprogrammed the entire game during the few months between the US and JP releases! How nice of them!

Well this ST5 is the one that they said they'd release in the US back when it was announced. They haven't really talked about it lately though.

st5 was announced when dreamcast was still out wasnt it?

it seems like it was that long ago anyway.

Is Sakura Taisen the shitty Western with the backflipping horse?

It's the Dating Sim/Strategy RPG with robotic suits that are powered by steam and LOLI LOVE FOR YOUR COMMANDER! :lol As shocking as the combo is, it's even more shocking that Sega's seen fit to make five games in the main series and work on this last one for how many years?

Okay, can we please stop taking Famitsu seriously ever again ever seriously please.

The new Musashi was a 7.0 kind of game. Good rental, but nothing more. Are you really going to hold it against them that they gave it an 8? If it was a 10, yeah.

Since you called it a "shitty Western", you must have played it.

Well, they released an action game using the ST5 characters about a year ago that was pretty rank. Since an ST game lives and dies by its characters and the characters in 5 are horrendously unattractive, it's probably okay to declare it a disaster without sullying ones hands with playing it.

Episode 0 of Sakura Taisen 5 is the shitty western horse action game. The real Sakura Taisen V is the one that's reviewed here. It's actually the first full Sakura Taisen game since part 3 (part 4 wasn't really a full game).

:lol :lol Great way to describe my thoughts when I saw that score. Seriously, Musashi is a 5/10 at most.

In a nutshell, a mix of Japanese adventure game and strategic battles in an anime-esque shell.

The thing is, it does so many good things right with both aspects. The adventure parts are well done, with lots of events to trigger, freedom in dialog choices, and fun arcade-style mini games. The innovative system where you have limited amounts of time to respond based on urgency is brilliant. The battle portions, expecially with ST3's system, actually innovates the genre and you can see its influence on games released now. I remember playing BoF5 DQ for the first time and thought: "OMG, this is ST3'd!" (But supposedly the Dragon Quarter person thought up the action points system himself separately.)

Regardless, the ST series, up to 3... showed an amazing amount of care and polish in the game. You can tell that Sega went all out to make exceptional games. You can see their love for gaming in each entry.

Then Sega became a whore, so ST4 sucked and I'm pretty darn skeptical about 5.

:lol What the hell?
Same thing I said.

Hah!
See, SOA? This is what happens when you fail to fulfill your promises *shakes clenched fist*

Anyway I did not expect those ST5 scores at all - then again, even Tokimeki 3 did well.

However I still expect to see a billion copies of it on ebay after three weeks, like Ep0 did.

There's no doubt that the game will sell to whatever X amount of ST fanboys there are in Japan, but seriously, if this and Musashiden don't convince more people to stop taking Famitsu seriously, I don't know what will.

You know, all that needs to be done is hijack (or flame) every thread which comes up about Famitsu.

The casual gamers don't care about Famitsu... they won't even know what it is.
The enthusiast gamers don't care about Famitsu... they actually realize that Famitsu is a Japanese GamePro.

It's just the in-betweeners that are (mis)informed about Famitsu that seem to keep pushing it in their ignorance. "OMG! Famitsu never gives 40s!!!" is the reputation it seems to have, so people think that it's very strict. But does anyone ever look at the games that get near 40s? Tsk.
