Leaked Trailer for The Batman

I do find it odd it's Snyder levels of dark which people bitched about to no end. But I'm intrigued.
I hope you are talking about Scott Snyder because i dig that and think it has a lot of that mood in it. To me it looks very inspired in Snyder+Capullo run of Batman, maybe this is something like year zero.

Any idea if there is a good collection of Snyder's Batman? I have all the singles but would like a collection if there is one.
There is in fact a Snyder/Capullo Batman omnibus. If you love Capullo's art, give the "Absolute Edition" of Batman: Court of Owls a look.

Many love the Snyder/Capullo run, and it is good, but my pick would be the Grant Morrison Batman omnibus.

Personally, I don't see shades of Snyder/Capullo run in this. It really feels like it's own thing, but if anything Snyder-related, it somewhat resembles his run on Detective Comics, known as "The Black Mirror."

Just the trades. They didn't do an omnibus yet.
Actually, there is an omnibus.

Orsm, thanks for letting me know.
The thing about the Absolute, I'll want the rest of the series in that standard and it probably won't happen. I'll try and pick up the omnibus though, I'll check out my local comic store. Local meaning an hour away. lol

The Dark Knight is my favorite Batman movie. I love it.
But I do always get a bit bored during all the action and tension building of the climax.
If this film can maintain the intensity up until the finale, it may have a chance to take the crown.

I mean have you guys seen the trailers for The dark Knight recently?

Yeah, but the mood for this one just hits the right spot for me. I love Nolan, and TDK will always be great, but this trailer just has something special.

TDK’s trailer waa good, but not as good as this one. Mind you, Im speaking for trailers only.

This post gets it, people are reaching with the Snyder/Capullo connections.

So sick of big lumbering Batman. Really pleased he can move that quick.

This comment makes no sense. We've never had a big, lumbering Batman.

Sure, Ben Affleck is 6'4", but his Batman is very nimble and fast; recall the fight sequence in BvS in which he dispatches more than twenty thugs in a warehouse with speed and precision, as well as the brute force of his giant physique.

As for Christian Bale, guess what? He's the same height as Robert Pattinson: 6' flat.

What about Val Kilmer and George Clooney? 6' and 5'11", respectively.

How about Michael Keaton? 5'9".

So, I don't know why you're so sick of "big lumbering Batman," because there's never been such a Batman.

By the way, Batman is 6'2" tall in the comics.

He really isn’t. It’s all faked, with a lot of editing, a lot of stunt men, a lot of cgi, and a lot of wire work. That sequence is a child’s fantasy. He rock bottom‘s one dude 😂 That clip of Pattinson is the first time we’ve actually seen Batman fast and brutal without the need for a lot of Hollywood gimmickry.

This is a silly comment. Canonically speaking, Affleck's Batman is fast and nimble. Also, the editing in that sequence is very well done.

As for Pattinson's Batman, one shot showing him throw a series of right handed punches doesn't give any indication of how fast he is overall and whether or not more complicated action sequences will require editing.

In terms of comic inspiration...

I read volumes 1 and 2 of DC Earth One: Batman over the weekend and the 'Im vengeance' line is literally pulled straight out of that book.

The story also features Penguin and Riddler as the main villains.

What I also liked about these books is that Batman is still pretty shit at being Batman. He fucks up a lot and takes a few beatdowns. I think we will hopefully see some of that in this film.

What's always been strange about Batman to me is that although he is 'human', in modern comics he is portrayed more like a God capable of borderline superhuman feats.
For me Batman is a more interesting character when he's still relatively new to all this and not the unstoppable force that he becomes later in his career.

Yeah, alright. You carry on worshipping good old Pizza Eatin' Ben and the overblown, hyper-real silliness of Zack Snyder's movies. I'll just be looking forward to a Batman film that's actually good. (y)

So who’s this guy? Mayor? Police Commissioner? And why does he look like a bloated Russell Crowe?

That's the current Police Commissioner I think.
Based on his look I'm gonna guess that he's corrupt lol

Interesting trivia, if you're British, that character is played by Trevor from EastEnders (the Scottish cunt that used to beat up Little Mo lol)

Quick on the draw, thanks for that! So that just added another corrupt layer to the puzzle. This movie may be almost too jam packed.

Six months ago a Reddit user claimed to be working on the movie and described this scene accurately:

DMJsACw.jpg

The big deal is he claims there's a second batsuit in the movie:

It’s Batman’s prototype suit and once it gets destroys, he makes a new one. I haven’t seen it in action but I saw a few pictures taken by someone who was putting it together.

It’s extremely similar to Spider-Man’s SHIELD suit from the ‘Far From Home’ movie last year. The material is very similar, being a sort of tactical padded fabric material. There’s way less straps and extra details on the batsuit compared to the Spider-Man suit but the material and look is very similar.

It’s grey, with full black gloves extending to his forearms and black boots. The symbol is no longer metal and lacking ears, it’s a more “classic” version of the symbol on the first suit in the film. The cowl is made of a higher quality material than the leather of the first cowl. The ears are medium-to-long length and the mouth opening is much smaller. He no longer has the collar. (I think he might have the white eyes too)

The utility belt is a bronze-gold faded color, and it’s more pouch than the futuristic metal type belt of the Nolan films.

This honesty looks good. And I haven't been kind of hyped by a superhero movie trailer since The Dark Knight.

It looks good, love the actors , the trailer etc. But theres just this 1% chance that it's gunna be garbage and we have to take it as an absolute certainty

Who is the (villain?) character who speaks at 1:18-1:33? Is that the Riddler or the Penguin?

Yeah that's likely to be Riddler as the dialogue appears to be part of a riddle:

"If you are justice, please do not lie.
What is the price for your blind eye?"

1:52-1:55 is the Penguin I think with, "this guy's crazy!"
Although that sounds nothing like Colin Farrell...

JimiNutz JimiNutz the delivery on that line was insane
the entire trailer is

Yeah all of the lines are delivered really well.

Wright as Gordon sounds perfect.
Dano sounds like he's gonna nail Riddler.
Farrell looks and sounds like he's a completely different actor, the transformation is crazy.
Even the 'Im vengeance" line didn't come off as cheesy.

I know it's only a trailer but fuck me, it's almost a perfect trailer.

Agreed. Especially liked how Batman made an example out of that goon in front of his crew; last two punches were brutal sounding. If he's that hard on the small time running amok, then I can't wait to see how he'll handle the more sinister characters like Penguin and the Riddler

It's gonna be awesome if not only do we get a depiction of 'detective' Batman on screen but we also get a Batman that is involved in some awesome/brutal looking action scenes.

The warehouse scene in BvS was pretty sweet but other than that I can't really remember the last time we had a really impressive action scene featuring Batman. I like the Nolan films but can't really recall a single fight scene that did Batman justice. Hopefully this movie delivers in the fight/action department.

It's satisfying to finally see "The Batman" title used officially, as we had mostly all been speculating on that being the title since before Matt Reeves was even attached.
