New Lego Racing Game Is Reportedly In Closed Beta
The supposedly titled LEGO 2K Drive is a result of a new partnership between LEGO and NBA 2K's development team, Visual Concepts.

It was reported last year by VGC that LEGO was to partner with Take-Two publishing division 2K for a set of LEGO sports games, one of which was an open-world racing title that would supposedly release later this year. This recent XboxEra report would align with that claim, as a playable beta usually means a game is relatively close to release, and there are still nine months left to the year.
Insider Gaming later corroborated the XboxEra claim, confirming that it also understands the game's title to be LEGO 2K Drive and that its closed beta is currently underway.
According to VGC, the Lego racing game is in development at Visual Concepts, the 2K-owned, California-based team that's long held the reins on the prolific NBA 2K series, and most recently took over the WWE 2K series as well. The studio has seemingly continued adding more to its plate, now reportedly set to manage three different sports series (if this LEGO racing game becomes a series, that is).
Details about the game are still quite scarce. The original VGC report simply described it as an open-world racing game, but Shpeshal_Nick expanded a little more on the idea, stating that he understands there are closed-circuit races, which you perhaps arrive at by traversing through open areas. He also described it as a "kart racer," suggesting it may have more arcade-like elements, a la Mario Kart and Crash Team Racing.
