FAQ

What is this, 2005? Where’s the online co-op?

LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga is the only game in the series to feature online co-op. Apparently Traveller’s Tales hasn’t thought it an important enough feature to include, so we’re left with just local co-op.

Wait, so you’re telling me these guys actually delayed the console versions to the same week of Call of Duty? Are they nuts?

In the absence of any evidence to the contrary, we can only presume yes.

Are the console and handheld versions the same?

No. The handheld versions do not feature an open world Middle Earth to explore in between story levels. They are, rather, just like the previous games in the series with just the story levels included. The levels are, however, slightly different from their console counterparts.

Does this follow the Extended Editions of the films of just the Theatrical Cuts?

It is unknown at this time. All gameplay and cutscenes shown has been of scenes in the Theatrical Versions, so right now, that seems like the safest bet.

Thanks to Dragonzord whose LEGO Batman 2 OT helped me with the format.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
From the last trailer and the demo, the 3DS version looked really good. Unfortunately, no open world is bad :( Still, it seems much better than Lego Batman 2. Can't wait for impressions.

Hmm, do I get this for the 3DS or do I wait a bit to see if the Wii U gets a port of the console versions?

Also, Newegg has the 3DS version for $29.99 and free shipping.

I'm real curious to see how the crafting works out. I'm not expecting much, but it's good to see Traveller's Tales actually putting forth an effort on the gameplay front.

Your question made me think about how it's strange to see no announcement so far about a Wii U version of this. 3DS had Star Wars at launch, it's pretty strange. About what you asked: maybe it's better to expect impressions about 3DS version. If they're good, then you get it on 3DS. Otherwise, you wait for the Wii U version, if it's announced.

I'm really looking forward to this. It looks great. I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to pre-order it though. By the time it gets released, I'll be pretty busy with Halo 4...

Just how open world is this? This is the first I've heard of that...interesting. I'd assume that horse would be the primary method of transportation.

Its not your classic GTA/RDR/Skyrim open world. If its anything like Lego Batman then its a small open city/world with random monsters running around. The only thing to really do is collect the gold bricks that are hidden around the world. Most of the actual gaming takes place in levels.

Right. It's effectively a giant hub. I played LEGO Batman 2 on the Vita and the 360. The Vita's issue was that it was a straight port if the 3DS version with little touch up to the art. But in the end it was fun and enjoyable.

I've played the LotR 3DS demo and the art/graphics seem much improved from Batman 2. And the little Vita footage I saw from NYCC seems to indicate that it's not just a port anymore.

Guess I'll find out on Tuesday.

$40 for a gimped Vita version... nope. No buy. Learned my lesson with LEGO Batman 2. It's nowhere near as fun.

Guess it's PC version for me again.

Sorry, Vita. One less game to play on you :/

The one LEGO game...to rule them all.

I dig the LEGO series, but I'm also pretty burnt out. And yet, this is one I must have. But why on Earth did it take so long?

I may end up getting this and Toy Story Mania instead of AC3 or NFS. Did anyone play the Wii port of Toy Story Mania?

I'll be playing both with my little brother.

I think part of the problem is that I think a completely different team works on the handheld versions. I'm not completely sure where I read that, but I do agree, it is a real shame that they aren't the same as the console versions.

Glad they kept the open (hub) world, ended up making for some fun puzzles in Batman 2.

Trying to nail jumps when the camera mysteriously jank-panned or level geometry was either missing or at a weird angle was frustrating as hell though. Some sequences in Batman 2 were 3-5 minutes long and could be completely screwed up in a second.

As long as the Vita version looks good i'm still happy. I'm not as upset about this missing the open world as much as Lego Batman 2. It made sense in that world but in LoTR I really don't see the point of an open world sandbox. I would actually prefer it just flowed along the storyline.

Why is the PC version priced the same as the DS version? Surely it's the PS3/360 build, and although I'm not complaining, it seems weird.
If I recall correctly, most LEGO PC games retail for $30-40, and I love it. I'm probably half likely to just buy one outright on Steam if it releases at that price, to support the practice, rather than waiting for a sale.

On the flip side I think they sometimes take a few months to show up on Steam. :p

Oh fuck, I had no idea the console versions got pushed to the same day as Blops 2. That sucks, my wife was really looking forward to it next week, and it coming out the week after Halo and the same day as CoD is....unfortunate timing. Shit.

Do you know this for sure about the Vita? If so, where did you find this info?

Skip to around 10 mins. The PS3's assets are almost poly for poly the same on vita he said. But no open world? That would suck. The vita is capable of doing that, i'm pretty sure of it.

I still have to beat like 4 more Lego games before I get this, but I'm pretty damn excited. I hope we get achievements on PC for once since this is with WB and they do that on Steam.

Yeah, TT Fusion does the handheld versions. Vanilla TT does the console/pc versions.

I really wanted the Vita version to be my third title on the Buy 2 Get One Free special Target is running next week. After reading the OP everything is fucked now.
