Let's talk about redneck music.

Thread title fucking sucks, it will cause too much discussion to be about it instead of country music.

Gram Parsons is my hero, and most music derived from him is some of my favorite music ever.

And I want to marry Emmylou.

It should be noted that 'redneck' music and 'country' music are two different things.

You could argue that country music has turned into redneck music. Country has moved away from the traditional sense of country and western and moved towards southern rock, arena rock and pop influences with a healthy dose of redneck stereotypes in the song lyrics. I swear there is a new song every month about what it is to be a redneck on country radio, and they're all the same damn song.

The stuff that I like takes the traditional country western sound and either does it by the numbers or updates it with punk rock or metal influences, and most of that you'll never hear on country radio.

How can you not like Hank Williams music? Also Hank Williams III is one of the best country artists today.

You have to understand - I think literally everything about Hank William's and III's music is utter shit. The lyrics, ways instruments are used, everything. There is no redeemable quality to me in their songs (and yes, I have listened to quite a few of them).

I just hate any music similar to country, redneck, whatever, in general. Johnny Cash is the closest I can get, and I've starting disliking even him due to hearing him too much and too long.

It's interesting, because I like literally every other genre other than dubstep and some rock.
