List Some Good MP3 Players For PC

I'm sick of the software I use for my MP3s on my PC, GAF. I'm a noob and use Windows Media Player, but the shuffle is bad for a number of reasons. 1, it doesn't shuffle properly and repeats the same few songs out of thousands, and 2, it tries to shuffle in a song from an unselected category (genre, artist, year, etc.) and then completely stops playing because if its own mistake. My only other player was Groove and despite me asking it (clicking) not to download info from the net, it somehow gets info about all the MP3s anyway, from the net, which is annoying as I set my own tags (OCD lol).

I've tried Googling but I never get far with decent answers, so I turn to thee GAF, what are the best MP3 players for free that do what they say?

Foobar2000

Is good.

Let me try that again.

Foobar2000 is the audio player I've been using for about 8 years now. It's got some pretty decent features and is very customizable. I like to keep my info simple and concise and it lets me do that all with a very functional UI and a good shuffle feature.

Doesn't play super well with 5.1 or up as it only has stereo output by default, but it can do quad channel with a built in plug in.

MusicBee.
It was the only player/library manager that convinced me to finally put Winamp to rest.
Haven't looked back since, it does everything I need - perfectly.

Cheers for the recommendations. I need a good shuffle feature and not much else. Stereo only is fine for now. I think I remember trying MusicBee once, and stopped for some reason. Winamp is the classic one that friends in the 90s used. Thanks for the help.

I'm surprised there isn't much else to be honest, but I'll give these another run.

As much as I hate to say it, iTunes. Really the cleanest interface out of all the libraries I think, and shuffling is better than most (though lets be honest, all shuffle interfaces suck and will always be biased towards a select portion of your library/playlists).

Being you deal mostly in .mp3s it doesn't matter, but if you wanted to use FLAC you'd have to convert it to ALAC (because Apple).

I use Foobar2k and have never had issues with the default shuffle. There's also an option to shuffle albums if that's what you're in the mood for.

Winamp + Loop Master v1.1 plugin + Pacemaster tempo controller = :lollipop_blowing_kiss::lollipop_trophy:

Am I right in thinking this would let you isolate and loop a section of a song, then down the tempo into some kind of on the fly, custom low-fi and chill setup?

...

Could you like, whack your Winamp folder in a zip file and stick it on drive or something? :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Damn. I haven't played an mp3 files on a pc in 5 years at least. I think at the time I was still using winamp.

WinAmp and Foober are perfectly good choices, as already mentioned in this thread.
I prefer VLC. To me, it's the cleanest and easiest to use.

Any of them are perfectly good choices, though. It just depends on which look you prefer.

That's exactly what I do! This setup comes in handy when I want to match the tempo of a single mp3 I've heard in a trance mix. These tracks are good, but +4 speed really "unlocks" them...
