Look what I just picked up...

I just got it today, along with Vampire and Ridge Racers. I just got home a little while ago, so unfortunately, my impressions are very short. Here's what I can say so far:

The unit is beautiful in person, easily the best looking handheld console I've ever seen. It's small, it's light, and it doesn't resemble a toy. At all. The is one of those rare items that are gaming related, that look more like a high tech piece of equipment, as opposed to a toy. I've only played a few minutes of Ridge Racers, but from the few minutes I've played, here's what I can say so far:

The graphics are stunning. The best anyone has ever witnessed on any handheld device.

The image quality is better than Ridge Racer 5.

The sound is great, even coming from the PSP's tiny speakers.

The analog nub takes some time to get used to, but once you adjust to it, it works just fine.

The car models rival Ridge Racer 5, even if only because the screen is so small.

That's all I have to say for now, but I will post more impressions soon.

PSP rocks.

Here's a couple more images, including my own personal size comparisons with the Nintendo DS:

The Gameboy Advance game I posted (Mawaru) is slightly larger than normal, because it features a motion sensor built right into the cart.

And thanks for avoiding the Official PSP thread!

My mistake. I didn't read the Official thread, therefore I was unaware that my own personal impressions of the unit needed to be posted in it.

Society, I've been here lurking. I don't read the forums everyday because I'm very busy, and I don't post very often, because I either feel that other posters said enough on certain topics. Also, I try to avoid posting in the OT forum, because I find that I seldom agree with the vast majority of posters here.

You got this in Chinatown, eh? Psycho. You paid at least $600 didn't you?

Nah bro. Those crazy crooks wanted $800 for the value pack and no games. I got this from a Japanese retailer that my wife found in the local NY Japanese papers, like Frontline and NY Japion. They were all sold out too, but he had one left, and told my wife that if she were willing to pay over the phone, he would sell it to her, and since they have a small Manhattan office, we could pick it up. So basically I got the last system they had, and paid $289. It's core, but still far cheaper than anywhere else(maybe in the world, at this point). In any case, I did have to go to Chinatown for the games though, since the company had no PSP games or peripherals. They wanted $75 each, but when you have nothing to test the system with, you learn to pay their rediculous prices. They're at least $15 more expensive than any websites.

Holy hell, dude. What's the name of this place called? I wanna' give them a call and see when they get more stock in. Shoot me a PM.

God. Those DS screens look so fucking tiny in comparison. After I play a PSP, I don't know how I'm going to go back to DS.

well unlike the screens, the DS unit itself looks like mothafuckin' Godzilla next to the PSP, in that shot at least.

Unbelivable. PSP is the sexiest gaming kit ever

Even more so sitting next to the DS

Cant wait to get my hands on one (got it pre-ordered. First time ever for a handheld) :D

What is so 'Dammit I need this now!!' about the PSP? The content isn't there and it'll be out here in a matter of months. *shrug*

I'm not hatin', but I'm curious.

**Photography tip - Push the shutter button in half way to allow the camera to focus on the object before taking the picture.**

Yeah yeah. Enough with the photography critiques. Believe it or not, I'm not satisfied with the first two images either, and contrary to popular belief, I have no intentions of becoming a professional photographer. This is the main reason I posted more than one image. My digital camera is just fine, thank you very much. The sole purpose of this thread was to give my very brief impressions of the unit.
