The Amazon Original Series "Lore" will premiere on Friday, October 13 on Prime Video, Bloody Disgusting learned. Based on the popular podcast of the same name, which has an average of five million monthly listens, the anthology series presents the frightening and often disturbing tales based on real people and events that have led to our modern-day myths and legends.

"Lore", featuring Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), Kristin Bauer van Straten (True Blood), Adam Goldberg (Fargo) Holland Roden (Teen Wolf), Colm Feore (House of Cards) and Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man), combines documentary footage, narration, historical mixed media and cinematic scenes to bring to life terrifying, but true stories. Celebrating the origins of the horror genre, "Lore" explores the real-life tales behind pop culture's most legendary horror myths, such as vampires, changelings, werewolves, séances and possessed dolls.

I can't wait! Check out the podcast in the meantime. It's interesting and very well produced.

This could be a lot of fun, I love these types of ideas. I kind of wish I like the podcast more to be honest, something about the host is just pretty boring and dry and his delivery to me.

It's a fucking brilliant podcast. If maybe a bit short.

Now I wish they would give Mysterious Universe it's own TV show.

Seems cool. I liked the idea of the podcast but it seemed like just skimming the wikipedia article on these subjects.
I think it's more in depth than that, but also a lot of the stories are about people and events I never would have heard about otherwise.

The podcast is amazing and honestly terrifying at times. Still get shivers from the axe murderer and doll episodes.
Same. I like listening to it while hiking in the woods behind my house in the evening for added spookiness.

Love the podcast. Hope this adaptation retains the magic.

I've heard some episodes. The stories are interesting but the narrator's sing-song reading style is off-putting. I just got annoyed every time I listened to him.

So are MBMBAM and Lore the first of their kind, aka podcasts adapted to television? Homecoming is also getting a series (with Julia Roberts and the Mr Robot creator), and I believe there was a Limetown show is the works

Yeah, I always multitask while listening to podcasts. I cook, clean, drive, etc. But with Lore I have to focus much more than normal or I completely lose track of the story. I've had to restart so many episodes. It's something in the way he talks. The rhythm or something. That's why I think having visuals may be beneficial (at least for me).

Hopefully this will renew my interest in Lore. While I still listen to the podcast from time to time; it's gotten a bit stale. I feel like he's covered most of the interesting myths.

I listen to the show, but I find the host/narrator's voice a bit grating, more the pacing of his speech. I was disappointed to see he still seems to be narrating. That said I still enjoy the show despite his voice so we'll see.

Ok just watched episode one, it’s good!!
It doesn’t lose anything from the podcast, some of the jumps between the drama scenes and Aaron’s narration are a bit awkward but I think that’s something I will get used to, considering the unusual combination of drama and documentary.

I recommend people give it a go.

Watched the first two episodes last night and it’s pretty good. I’m enjoying Aaron’s narration and I love when they toss in actual photos of whatever the episode about, giving it an extra boost of creepiness. My only negative so far is the dramatization aspects of the show... I didn’t mind episode 1, as I thought Campbell Scott did a decent job, but man the actors in episode were pretty boring.

When I first heard about this show I thought it was going to be more first hand accounts or interviews mixed with creepy photos and Aaron narrating over it all giving context into what we were being shown.

I’m going to watch all 6 episodes as I thought the first two were good enough to keep going, and with each episode averaging around 40min, it’s not that much of a chore to get through.

Just watched episode two

Yeah I think the next series should have less dramatisation and maybe use 'talking heads' to tell the stories a bit more. Of course most of them can't be eyewitness accounts but they could use historians/professionals in certain fields to tell us about stuff in combination with Aaron's retelling of specific tales, and combine those with the images and documentary videos (these bits are really good)

Okay just watched all six episodes, it’s really great.
A few slow parts, not unlike the podcast, but overall very entertaining. Also kudos for having literally the only thing with ‘creepy dolls’ in which I thought was actually entertaining.

I just wish there were more than six episodes, hope there is more in the pipeline.

His voice puts me to sleep. I enjoyed the earlier episodes but for the most part even though they're only like 20 minutes long, after I'm done listening I often have no idea what the ep was about cuz I zoned out.

I will check out the show though. Maybe it'll help if I have something to look at.

Wish the Magnus Archives got something like this. There's a ton of creepy fiction podcasts out there, ones retelling old tales feel sorta boring.

It definitely helps yeah. Some of the dramatization scenes drag out a little too long but the bits with Aaron speaking, like the podcast, have lots of cool images and newspaper clippings etc which makes the narration bits the most compelling.
