I love finding and sharing gifts and with the help of some of my Discord members and Jotego (FPGA dev) the original System 18 version of Clockwork Aquario is now preserved, made playable and will be in MAME shortly. A little lost Sega arcade fun because I love arcades and sharing

Oh, wow! Super cool!
I have the modern version of this, didn't think the actual arcade prototype would ever see the light of day.

Ooooooh, unreleased PS2? Color me intrigued. Any hints? Have we heard of it before?

It was cancelled with the reason being given that people wanted 3D games. So I'm sure they had no confidence of a Saturn port
What I am saying is if it came onto the platform, I doubt the Saturn would break any sweat, and also this game might have done well in Japan, there they were willing to carry with 2d

I worked on the restored Switch/PS4 port!
Restored because even Westone didnt have a working full version anymore!
Some of the original BG´s were corrupted and had to be redone by the original artist!
So would be interesting to know if this dump came from a surviving fully working board or if this was ripped out of a Switch cart dump.

Wait, even in '92 people were saying this? I mean yeah SEGA were pushing forward with Model 1 (and Model 2 shortly after), but SEGA themselves still released quite a few 2D games post-1992 like the Puyo Puyo titles. But I guess that's one where people were more tolerable to 2D because it was a puzzle game.

And then there's games like Outrunners but that was a Super Scaler game with pseudo-3D. Japanese arcade gamers were more receptive to 2D on the whole at that point tho, no? Figure at least there the game would've been released. Maybe SEGA were primarily focused on Western markets for it?

I mean that's the stated reason so it's really all I have to go on
