Another year, another classic anime film adaptation that slipped past my radar. Only this time not only will there not be a sequel, but the studio itself (Imagi) shut down. And just like the poorly received Speed Racer, Astro Boy not only lived up to its legacy, it excelled as its own film. An excellent coming of age/finding your place in the world story, with some really gorgeous animation, great voice acting (Bill Nighy, and Freddie Highmore were standouts), and top notch action set pieces.
Not only do I feel bad for having missed this in theaters, I feel almost dirty having rented it from Redbox. I'm ordering the Blu-ray from Amazon ASAP.
