I'm almost finished with Atelier Ayesha, with all thats left being endgame content. My impressions were very positive in general and i can't really think of any deep criticism i could give the game, quite the opposite in fact.

Story is really good. Some would probably be put off by its cutesiness, but i still think it did a way way better job than a lot of big 'story driven' games out there, with a great premise, excellent character development and no dumb pretenses - just an enjoyable story with heart and soul.
Moreover it did a good job of matching the story with gameplay (a point i tend to really hammer on when playing story driven games), with many story events being directly tied to your progression in-game, such as your progress with alchemical truths or exploration of the in-game map.
On that note, i also really enjoyed the life-management aspect of the game, though i think it could've been more polished in some areas.

A point that really deserves highlighting is the soundtrack. In fact, i'm having a hard time just picking them for this thread since pretty much everything sounds great.

This one has no ass or thighs tho.

I also should mention many long time fans of the series usually dislike Ryza, and my praise goes mainly to Ayesha which is what i played. I haven't played Ryza.

In terms of the trilogy, I think I liked Escha & Logy and Shallie better than Ayesha. All really enjoyable games though.

I'm actually undecided if from Ayesha i should finish the trilogy or try Rorona

I've only played Ryza 1 and 2, is it worth going back for the older games? I hear that there's a lot of time management involved and that's always put me off.

I really enjoyed Sophie. There was no time limit stuff, so it was perfect for a beginner like me. Could goof around and learn the game at my own pace.

Its sequel, Firis, does introduce a time limit, although I've heard people say it's not too bad. That you only have a time limit in the first part of the game or something like that.

Its not real time management, its more like certain actions will make you spend "time". The severity of the time management aspect also seems to vary from game to game.

Ayesha felt rather lax in that aspect. You're given three years to find your lost sister and the player should be able to do that in time as long as he doesn't keep wasting time pointlessly and focus more on the important tasks.

Rorona was my least favorite of the post PS2 Atelier games. That said, I did play the vanilla PS3 version and not the remaster.

IMO - Totori was better than Rorona in every way and has some of the best music of the series.

Just bought Escha & Logy the other week. The artstyle roped me in alone. My backlog is just so long to start such a long game.

The soundtracks are always top notch for Atelier games. Hell the exploration tune from Atelier Rorona is still stuck in my head today

Currently playing Nelke at the moment. Was starting to get burnt out on the series so it's been a nice change of pace town building instead

This is the first Atelier game I played in the series. Great characters and setting. The game was hard, yet I still managed to save the sister every time I played it. I loved the way they did cities in the earlier games. Much faster to move around and the game focused on what was important and kept the overall game short. I think you can get through it is like 30 hours or so. I enjoyed this game so much I have been a fan ever since and have not missed any games.
