Now at the start, it said it was based on a true story. But when the end credits hit and showed Jack Black interviewing the guy, I lost my shit.

I've been meaning to watch this movie for a while and finally got around to it. Great flick. Really liked Matthew McConaughey.

the guy JB played was released early last year, iirc. I enjoyed the movie, too. Idk what I expected before I watched it, but I was pleasantly surprised. great acting by Jack Black. Linklater stays being great.

Yea, they released him to the directors home. Pretty bizarre. He's a straight up murderer. But hey, Jack Black movie!

Loved the film though, I've watched it several times now. The townspeople are so great.

Well if the events in the film are true... while he is a murderer he also didn't get a fair trial.

I thought he did. he developed a cult of personality in his town; it would have been unfair for him to stand trial in a town full of people explicitly telling the prosecutor they won't indict him.
