Somewhere the last week somewhere I read this game is a Metroidvania. I also recall there was a trailer for a sequel so I decided to investigate… and picked it up earlier today.

I have been loving the first few hours of this. The combat, visuals, music, exploration, and abilities to add to traversal really make a good gamey ass game. Gameplay and laughs married together.

I'll warn you now if you don't find Rick and Morty humor funny your mileage may vary. I have definitely had a few good laughs but the gameplay is what is carrying this for me. It's a refined Metroid prime minus the scanning.

How did GAF enjoy this one? You guys excited for the sequel next month?

Never played the first one but i may look into part 2 when it comes out.
I think this is still on gamepass? Otherwise it's pretty cheap. I got it for $40 on console but pc cd keys I imagine it's a fraction of that.

Game is apparently 8-10 hours long? May as well jump in!

Solid 8/10. Doesn't overstay its welcome. The humor and dialogue can be cringe at times, but could be worse. Need more games like this rather than the 50hr+ slogs.

Great game. Super fun and the dialogue and humour is right up there with the funniest in gaming.

A big warning to everyone though is that the DLC is fucking horrendous.

Hopefully the second game is great.

Yep, I enjoyed my playthrough.
I've never seen Rick and Morty except clips on Youtube, There is a show on netflix called Solar Opposite that might be from the same creator. The Humor and voices seems similar.

what I liked about it is that it felt very oldschool.
Very gen6-esque, which is always welcome if well made.

it had a ton of tech issues tho, especially right at launch.

I enjoyed the game a lot, one of the first things I played when I upgraded my computer. The story is great, conversations what you'd expect from anything Justin Roiland's been involved with, but despite the writing and setting there are moment of emotional gravitas. Guns talking is fun, but I feel like the protag should have been better defined and talking too, instead of a silent protagonist.

Areas are expertly crafted so I got 240fps with DLSS (no FG) without any drops. Sadly the same can't be said about the DLC, it dropped below 60 in certain places because of amateur hour level design. DLC is a shit show, but there's some good bits innit, like a certain 80's TV series parody.
There's also some obvious SocJus stuff in the game, it's not too bad, more in the DLC because it released after Justin Roiland got canceled.

Base game on PC can be bought for 4,59 on Cdkeys/Loaded.

I wish I liked it more. The humor wasn't for me but I liked the soundtrack by TOBACCO. I appreciated the attempts at Metroid-style level design. What killed it was movement and combat/gunplay. It felt terrible to actually play.

Reminder to practice the strictest possible spoilers for the upcoming sequel. Literally every single thing you know in advance is a chance you would have laughed, been surprised, but now feel nothing. The 1st game has a LOT of moments like that. Absolutely loved it and was so glad none of it was spoiled.

It's literally the best comedy video game ever made.

Game is awesome, and just started a replay not too long ago on the Pro to prep for part 2. The one thing I do wish is that they'd patch in a 60fps boost, however I find it one of the better running 30 games out there. The motion blur helps a bunch for me personally.

I've always actively avoided Roiland's humor because like Family Guy, I hate the "meme-ness" of the writing and jokes as well as the character designs. However, I was shocked at how much I was cracking up at the writing and line delivery in High on Life, on top of the game world really feeling like some sort of tripped out, extreme R rated Jim Henson and Will Vinton fever dream. I didn't have any of the humor spoiled for me either because I had fortunately always ignored it.

I knew as soon you got offered to do some pretty realistic looking bumps with your sister within the first five minutes of playing I was gonna be in for a fucking ride.

Also the soundtrack is incredibly underrated.

I got 1000g for it. It was a competently made semi-open word shooter. I rather enjoyed it but the humour and the gun's voice became grating about halfway through.

Very creative game. I liked it. I think I got it in a humble monthly or something. I wasn't expecting much and enjoyed it quite a bit.

Perhaps i misunderstanding what you're saying but on XSX at least it has performance mode and it runs very well while looking good, it had some weird issue where it didn't had the day one patch at launch so it was 30fps, then they quickly fixed it in a day or so.
