Finally finished this yesterday and yeah, all of Whedon's praise (most of it anyway) is much deserved
First work of his I've read and my first foray into X-Men since being a kid in the 90s.
The quality of the writing is pretty damn great. Very sharp and just overall fun (Logan get's some fantastic lines)!
I honestly never got bored or dozed off (which tends to happen to me alot when I read).
I'm not a huge fan of John Cassaday's art-style but it's still very much accomplished and really pops within the actual omnibus
...Speaking of which I can't recommend enough and it's really a steal at around $47 on Amazon.
Honestly can't recommend this collection enough. It sounds cheesy but it really did make me feel like a kid again when I read it and reminded me that I did love the X-Men growing up and am now gonna keep up with 'em.
Thinking of going back and hitting Morrison's New X-Men run as the omnibus is coming out soon. I've heard mixed things on it though ncluding Frank Quitely's art which is supposedly hit or miss in it.
