So, I was sitting at work (Gamestop) and it was dead slow and I was by myself, so I decided to read one of our Shonen Jump's. I hate Yu-Gi-Oh, and had no idea what the other ones were, and wasnt too big into One Piece so I decided to start with Naruto. I was absolutley confused on how to read the damn manga and what panels I was suppose to go to next. After a few mins I finally got use to it, and man was I completly inhaled by it. I had no idea who any of the characters were, but it was amazing.

It was only a few Ep's with some battle between Rock Lee and Gara, and I was amazed, it was violent but not too violent, lotsa action, and not too much bleh like when I was young and I watched DBZ and how they dedicated 20 episodes to 2 chars talking.

I started seeing gameplay footage of the gamecube games and they feel like Street Fighter + Super Smash Bros so they look great, so I decided to watch the anime.

The anime's I downloaded the Jap versions dubbed cause I wanted to get the full unedited effect. Wow, Last night I went from Episode 2 to 22 in 1 sitting. I kept telling myself to go to bed, but the whole freaking Zabuza and Haku story just grasped me in. The emotions and everything, holy crap!
Ive never felt so sad, watching ANYTHING till this unbelievable

This anime/manga is wonderful and Im a blind fool for not getting into it till now!

DAMNIT! =[
 
The end of the Zabuza-Haku arc is definitely one of the high points of the series' storytelling ability.

And that Lee-Gaara fight happens to be one of the best fights in the series. :D

But yeah, Naruto is good times. I'm looking forward to the YEAR of garbage filler episodes finally ending in a month or so so that I can actually start watching it again.
 
The Haku/Zabuza ending really gets to me, even now. One of the more emotional aspects of the series that really made Naruto one of my favorite anime. Thankfully the filler season is going to be over soon.
 
Man I really need to go back and watch the early episodes to remind me why this show was so good...I'm somewhere in the 150's right now and I just want to stop watching :(

Why are you still watching? Just drop it and wait until the real episodes start again in April or whatever.
 
I stopped watching around episode 63 or so, I really really loved it but the filler episodes and constant repetition of certain parts was too much. Someone tell me it doesn't get much better later on :(

This bird country shit is unbearable. . . but I must watch. . .

I'm surprised they keep making these non-story arcs. At least make them funny or reveal some backstory. These fillers are like leftover shit from failed animes.

I can't get past the intro story-arc. Its just too stupid. I know it gets better, but the first dozen is just as tough as stomaching the Naruto sidestories.
 
I experince Naruto through SJ too, and I thought that it was going to be pretty awesome when I started reading it, especially with the Haku and Zabuza thing, but now they've been on this "school exam" shit for about a year and it's turned into DBZ with kid ninjas. Gettting a little tired of watching random ninja student talk shit about their rival team and how their goofy power is stronger than another, only to get beat down by simple attacks (oh, yeah, and Sasuke. Sasuke is boring and was only created to get little girls to buy this comic-they could have easily put his "evil bloodline" thing into Naruto with better effect.)

I really really hope that this comic gets a story arc again soon, because when the plot actually progresses, it's awesome...
 
While were at it, question for the dedicated anime-watchers: is Naruto already returning from filler hell? I stopped watching somewhere in november last year, I think it was around episode 165 or something. Shit about

Nah, magical blind guy and invincible underground german horse dude and feng shui wars...okay, as unimaginably bad as the RK filler arcs were, the NBZ filler is worse. Though it's been like 7 years since I subjected myself to RK filler and my standards were a lot lower then, so maybe you're right.
 
I think I enjoyed that ramen episode more than any of the other filler.

first 15 episodes are an introduction. 16 onward is when the story really picks up.

I tend to not watch anime series if they have a manga now, specially when Naruto and Bleach are both in filler land.

I heard the manga is in filler now too though? Meh, Naruto filler is pretty bad, but it's still better than most crap on American TV. Except Boston Legal, The Shat never disappoints on that show...

Anyway, my question is this: if you're going to take the time to write, animate, voice, direct all these useless episodes....WHY not give them some sort of relevance? At least the first couple missions had the guise of
"We've found a way to find Sasuke!"
but now it's just "What's Naruto up to this week?"

Reminds me of how Ranma 1/2 dropped off after the first couple seasons...went from awesome with character development to somewhat funny sitcom style show.
 
Naruto gets hated on too much. Even with the 15 minutes of recap and explanation per episode, the lame ass dbz powerups, the filler hell (And really it is hell, I can't believe I bothered to watch some of it. Whoever was excusing the one that just ended because it involved Anko needs to burn.), and the beat you over the head with a stick drama, it still has delivered some great arcs. I actually think the Zabuza arc is weakest in series, with my favorite being the chase.
 
Episodes 1-50 = Absolutely incredible
Episodes 51-100 = Amazing
Episodes 101-140 = Very good

The rest is diabolical.

That's something I read somewhere...sometime, so don't take it as fact. I can't remember exactly, and I don't read the manga..thus the ? mark.
 
There is a new opening/ending planned for episode 179 so the fillers will probably end on 178 (which is a filler according to the title)

Seeing those episode titles makes me KNOW I made the right choice in dropping it and waiting. But it should start getting back to the manga around 180 or so. I know that both the OP and ED are scheduled to change at 179, and that probably means a shift in the content of the series itself is coming.
 
So I have a question...did the original animation studio hand over the show to another studio around episode 100 or something? Because that seems to be the time when the animation took a turn for the worse...

WTF? Filler episodes at episode 63? Do you even know what you're talking about? The first filler episode wasn't until around 100 or so.

They did have that episode at the beginning of the 2nd exam where they did a half hour series recap.
 
Shit, the goddamn flashbacks count as filler, like the part of Naruto with his stupid fist out during the chuunin fights... they showed that at the beginning of about nine episodes.

Then they jumped through trees for an entire episode

then the fights in eps 70-80 were stretched waaaaaaaaaaaay past what would be considered dramatic pause.

Episode 1-50: good. After that, not so good.
 
I think there was a (half?) filler went they got registered for the chuunin exam. It was the one where they rescue the Konohamaru team to prove their worth
 
With Naruto it seems as if the filler stories are being drawn by temps or understudies, the animation just doesnt look right, and in some places even the characters look off. Can't wait for the real story to begin again, what are we, 5 episodes away right?
 
Yea so I watched more and Im up to episode 84, and I cant believe how FRIGGIN good this anime is!


The whole Gaara and
Konoha Invasion
was INCREDIBLE. I do agree they stretched a few things like the
Hokage and Ochiomaru
fight way too long specially at the end, but then the whole story and the whole
death of the 3rd
was so freaking sad, pretty much as sad as the Zabuza beginning =[. I was dissapointed to hear some people found the Neji vs Naruto fight to be one of the best in the series, I personally thought Gaara vs Rock Lee was unbelievable not to mention Shikamaru vs Anything.


I've never been so sucked into an anime and it makes me completly pissed how I watched DBZ and dealt with that shit. Its funny cause people instantly take an anime like Naruto and spit on it to shit for having filler episodes when its absolutley common animes to stay intuned and slow down for the mangas to give a leeway.

I plan on watching every one of those filler episodes sadly, but I hear a few of em are okay. Rest suck.

BTW: Shikamaru is the best f'n char in the series, he absolutley rocks. I love his laid back attitude and how he doesnt care about anything. Kakashi is close behind ;)

This post makes me sad because it reminds me how awesome naruto was... after that arc it's all downhill (manga and anime)... or maybe after tsunade's arc but whatever. =\
