My wife and I saw this was up on Netflix the other day and gave a shot. We both liked it a lot, except my wife can't stand anything that involves violence or goriness with children on screen so we almost didn't make it through.

We finished the first season and started the second, but we had to quit when the baby was starting to get cut into. My wife intends to quit the series now. Is there anyone that has finished season 2 that could tell me whether or not there is any more violence toward children or babies remaining in this show?

Just some thoughts on the show: Eva Green and Timothy Dalton make the show. They are so captivating on screen. Eva especially when she is doing the scenes of possession. She creeped me the fuck out, and with minimal special effects too. Also enjoyed Frankenstein, although Caliban was kinda lame and seemed more like filler than anything else.

I thought the tone and atmosphere of the show were great, the plot seemed a little all over the place though, with all the main characters off doing their own stuff. I thought the show might benefit from a little more focus on the storytelling.

Looking forward to continuing on my own if my wife won't watch it anymore.

Just finished watching Season 1 and 2 recently myself on Netflix

Honestly, I felt S1 was superior(and I hear S3 is a total trainwreck and a poor way to end the show), but S2 did have a few standout moments. As always, I enjoyed the Eva Greene flashback episode(though the S1 episode was again far superior). They finally manage to do something with Dorian Gray(though most of his involvement in the season was awful until the latter episodes). Also, the witches were an alright villain, though I never really felt nearly as convinced they were as much a threat as the cast made them to be.

Just my thoughts and I will probably watch S3 when it lands on Netflix this month for pure curiosity given how negative the response was. But I did really enjoy S1 the most overall.

I actually thought S3 was better than S2 except for the last two episodes.

It's still worth watching in its entirety. Caliban gets better every season, he ended up becoming my favorite character in S3

Caliban in the series finale was the only thing I liked. The rest of the finale was pure unadulterated trash.

I always finish shows, can't live without the resolution. I won't be able to until it comes out on Netflix though. Can you guys comment on whether or not there is continued violence towards children/babies after the baby ritual early on in S2?

You could watch S3 up till the last two episodes, then make up your own ending.

(the ending is a clear rushjob from the creator to tie everything up with crappy bow because he decided to quit the show- whatever the original ending to S3 was, it definitely wasn't that. They were clearly foreshadowing stuff (egypt/mummies!) for S4 as well.)

Don't recall anything else really in the season on that subject...well in Eva Green's flashback episode you are introduced to her mentor of sorts whom moonlights as an abortionist, but you don't really see anything very graphic in those scenes.

It really is rushed. I had no idea it was a series finale until the very end. Still, the epilogue and final shot is really cool and worth the watch.

Thought season 3 was better than 2.

Only watch the first 6 episodes of season 3 and pretend it ends after that.

Seriously, it's not bad if you just watch those first 6 episodes.
