Vegas 2 has a lot of personality especially around the Vegas, casino theme. I’ve played R6V2 on the 360 back in the day, the 360’s controller was fine, my eyes tell me the PS3 version has better graphics, and it stings me what has become of this rainbow six franchise and they’re still milking the same game after 10 years.
In 2008 if I was a gamer I would be playing call of duty 4, gears of war, halo 3, socom, killzone 2 etc. so I give Ubisoft credit on Vegas 2, everybody had their go to games back than and Vegas 2 really impressed me than and it impresses me now. It did “terrorist hunt” when things like horde mode, zombies, spec ops, and fire fights were barely a thing. I’ll never understand the mindset of the current rainbow six game, it seems like a political move to not include a campaign, coop, and terrorist hunt.
The shooting mechanics offers a very good cover system that is the core of the game and I’ve used cover in so many ways to take down enemies.
The gameplay offers commands to your teammates like disarm bombs, breach, fire at will etc. if I’m under fire I just send in the AI squad mates into the line of fire.
From what I’ve seen of the servers no games can be found on the ps3 version other than the occasional terrorist hunt game.
Going all the way back to that shooter era, Vegas 2 is probably a two or three option for many people, it had a similar ranking system to call of duty, you get xp, there’s a lot of unlocks, and the rewards feel like trophies or achievements (trophy support was never established) and the maps are something to appreciate, any where between casino, to theater or villa being in Vegas is the ultimate theme.
I think this franchise is desperate for a Vegas 3, the first two sold millions and were met with a lot of applause.
What does GAF think of R6V2, I loved the high risk gameplay where you can die at any time, what did GAF think of siege? What did GAF think of the change to shooting aliens in extraction?
