I finally got around to watching the Adam Sandler pic and I gotta be honest, it’s a mindfuck of a movie.

Sandler plays a protagonist that you love to hate. Nothing ever goes right for him, but it shouldn’t go right, even though you kinda want to see him succeed in it.

His son loves him because his son is just like him but his daughter is disinterested and his wife a bitch toward him (although with good reasons). I mean everyone in this movie is really good. Even Kevin Garnett, who yes plays himself but he’s clearly invested in this film.

And that ending: holy shit. Even though you see it coming, it still hits hard.

I don’t think I’d watch it again though. The characters are all (meant to be) irritating and the dialogue and camera work reinforce it every step of the way all the way up to the credit roll.

It's a masterpiece, I think. I was irritated the whole time watching it, which happens in every Adam Sandler movie, except this time it was because there was too much talent on the screen.

Great movie. Didn't stress me out as much as some say it does, the guy is simply a fucked up addict, and he's somehow likable even though he's a piece of shit.

The ending was great too.

I found it disappointing, tbh. I was looking forward to it for a long time, even more so when the reviews were good, and then it kind of left me flat.

And I think my problem with it, ultimately, was Sandler. Or at least Sandler's character (I can't remember if this was supposed to be based on a real guy or not).

A lot of people say the movie stressed them out, but I didn't feel that way though given my nature, I should've been. I didn't find it stressful or particularly engaging because Sandler's character is rarely worried or stressed out, because he's just too dumb and cocky to be anything other than....idk, like...excited I guess?

If you've ever had money riding on a game, there's no way this movie doesn't stress you out (even knowing the outcome of the game). Watched it back at the start of quarantine and goddamn did it make me miss sports. Good film overall, I'd give it a 7/10

I don't see "people shouting for 120 minutes" as annoying, but then again I'm like 10 minutes away from NYC. The anxiety and confrontative brashness present throughout the movie is basically the neutral default around here. That said, I can see how someone born of southern hospitality or the west coast would have a problem with it.

Didn't finish the movie, I did not like the pace. Everything felt rushed, shit just gets worse and worse. I gave up.
