Lumines Arrrghh!

Atari2600

Too dumb for the internet
I just got 184,000 in the challenge mode, and it didn't save. After the game, a menu came up and gave me the choice of circle to accept, and X to cancel, I hit X, and another menu of the same thing came up. This happens everytime I set a high score it seems. I lost a score of 98,000 and I select cirlce twice. I don't know what the problem is. 184,000 took at least an hour, and I am a little bitter about losing it. ARGH.

If you've been playing the game before you put it to sleep mode, when you come out of sleep mode the game wouldn't register that you're using a "current" save even if you are. So as protection it turns autosave off for the particular session (until you save again). So say you play a game and get a new hi-score, when you return to the main menu the game will ask instead of auto-saving. The first prompt asks if you want to load the previous save (the one on your memory stick) and you should say NO. The next promt asks if you want to save the current session, you should say YES. It's quite simple once you know what it's about. :)

Thanks alot man. That's exactly the problem. Why would they disable autosave? You almost have to put the thing to sleep if you're getting scores that high. That's one of the few flaws this game has - the games just take too darn long.

Since it's possible to swap out memory sticks while in sleep mode, they did it to prevent one from accidently overwriting data in the event that you slammed a different memory stick in there.

That's very thoughtful of them, but they could have handled it a bit better ;)
Like "Ah, we see you have changed your memory stick while the machine was in sleep mode, would you like to keep the current data or load the data from the new stick?" instead of "Do you want to reload your saved data?"

Even Japanese people get fucked over by this, but most people only experience the problem once before being able to deal with it.
