Awards:
Donovan McNabb award for Overtime Rules understanding - LJ11
After a hard fought battle, crow and LJ headed into overtime in the AFC championship game. Crow got the ball first, went down the field and kicked the game winning FG. LJ disconnected and the score was never officially registered. The problem is this isn't the pre-2010 or whenever NFL and LJ would've actually gotten the ball back! Lesson learned: Always wait till the final gun!
Best League Passer presented by Jeff George - Luke
My brilliant plan of antagonizing luke throughout the year in an effort to light a fire under him so we could meet in the Super Bowl for the first ever commish-off ultimately failed.... but he still tore up the league! In a season (and a year!) where most players give out picks like candy, luke had an excellent TD/Int ratio, great rating and top notch YPA! A champion always rises!
Best use of the 12th man Award - 49ers
By 12th man of course I mean my AI teammates! Easy to win superbowls when your team covers up your mistakes! God bless you EA, Donny, Tiburon and whoever else helped this to happen! I'll win this award again and again! Except when I don't win a superbowl, then I will win the shame award for not winning with an auto team
Eric Mangini Award for Excellence in Exposing a Corrupt Coach - Luke
There were many people who complained about crow, but one man made it his mission to have this exposed! But would Luke make the ultimate mistake before Crow's exit!? Find out later in the awards!
Shawnhann "Once every 3 years!" award - Crow
I wish I could tell you that Crow fought the good fight, and the madden league let him be. I wish I could tell you that - but the madden league is no fairy-tale world. He never said he did it, but we all knew. Things went on like that for awhile - Madden life life consists of routine, and then more routine. Every so often, league members would show up with fresh allegations against him. The league kept at him - sometimes he was able to fight 'em off, sometimes not. And that's how it went for Crow - that was his routine. I do believe those first three seasons were the worst for him, and I also believe that if things had gone on that way, this place would have got the best of him.
Wait, it did end up going that way. Hmmm... I guess this movie quote kind of works though!
First Annual Coldblooded Cycle Award for biggest playoff choker - Coldblooded
It wouldn't be much of an annual award if the man it will from here-on-out be named after didn't win the initial award! There's always some excuse: I had a guy hurt, someone dropped a ball, I ran into so and so in the playoffs. But it always comes down to the same result: No championships for the Eagles. Just like in real life!
p.s. yes i was tempted to give this to luke
FMT Award for Excellence in RB streaks - Soka
An award near and dear to my heart. Who better to give this award than the god father of cheesy RB streaks? Now I haven't used it in a few years, but after seeing my boy Soka abuse this route well... it just melted my heart and I had to create the award. God bless you soka!
Fall from grace Award - DCX
We thought DCX had turned a corner and would be a fixture in the NFC playoffs. But (maybe predictably) he fell back into his old ways and crawled to .500. Will he ever rebound? Will we ever see him in the playoffs again!?
DMczaf Award for most delayed advances sponsored by MrBob - DMczaf
What's the point of this award anymore! DM has put bob to shame at this point! Keep on keepin' on DM!
2012 Rams Vs. 49ers Honorary Tie Award - Ramirez/Nightz
When was the last tie we had in this league? I can't even remember! Just like in real life, i'd rather lose a game than tie. Looks ugly in the standings and neither of these league members can ever remove it from their coaching record!
Best New Old Player - Mastershake
The prodigal son returns..... better than ever! He was top of the mountain in the AFC West for a while.... but then his fortunes took a turn for the worst. Still, he was the best new league member we added!
Also the only... wait, wasn't AZ added too? Shit. Wait, he would still win it anways!
Most improved Player - Rinse
Rinse came to us as a child with little experience and even less talent. But, by trial through fire, he learned and after 2 awful seasons he finally made something of himself. It's unfortunate that he plays in the division he plays in though
"Man up!" "C'mon Man!" "Hey man, Nice shot!" Man... actually that's all i got. Award for best use of man coverage - BigAT
On one hand, we all use man coverage.... a lot! On the other hand, we don't all have 4 cornerbacks with 99 rated man coverage
Invisible Man Award for Quietest winning season in history - Smokey
Who was controlling the Texans this past season? Was smokey in the league? I honestly don't know! At one time the Texans were a powerhouse.... but this past season i can't remember any meaningful game the texans were involved in!
Madden '10 Created Rookie Award for Excellence in Speedback usage - fmt, splat, soka
We thought the speed back was dead. We thought it was a thing of the past. But as this season has shown.... actually wait, no one ever thought it was dead. Regardless, lesser rated backs led the league in rushing this year! And two of them are RB's who exist in real life!
Think about who you draft people!
2000's Detroit Lions Award for most top 5 picks with no success - Cola
Some players have benefitted from multiple high picks over the seasons (Rinse). Others.... have not! How can this be explained? Bad picks? Bad division? Bad luck? Maybe Cola can get the Patriots in madden '25 and we'll find out!
Cheatin' Pete Award for Playoff excellence - Bluemax
Like the real seahawks, the madden version started off slow. Like the real seahawks, the madden version made a big time push to surprise everyone and get into the playoffs. Then, like the real seahawks, the madden version got put down by a loser team in the playoffs. What a shame!
Biggest 2nd half of season chokejob presented by the real life Chicago Bears - Pheeniks
As if he took a page from the chicago bears, pheeniks started off hot. Maybe the hottest team in the league! And then he took even more pages from the chicago bears to choke away a chance in the playoffs!
Return of the king... but that ends in failure - Rors
Rors had an off season in season 2. It's not often he misses the playoffs! But this season he returned and looked to be dominant as usual! But then he lost in the wildcard.... and no one ever spoke of it again. Until now. But never again.
Best Post Season victory - MrBob getting sunday draft vote
Playoff wins? Superbowl? Who gives a shit! Bob won his Sunday vote! He is the real champion of the season!
Best new defensive formation - Drop 10 (crow, pheeniks)
Who would have ever thought that the best defense in the game would be to drop 10 guys into coverage!? Defending on the goal line? Drop 10! Need a timely stop late in the game? Drop 10! Only the true innovators can have this type of outside of the box thinking!
Best friend of the '72 dolphins - Bluemax
The last 2 years bluemax has twice faced a team after week 10 that was undefeated.... and twice come out the winner! Maybe someday that favor will be repaid to him!
Come back shotgun counter! - AZ
Where have you gone
shotgun trey counter
our league turns its lonely eyes to you (woo woo woo!)
Poor AZ.... a titan in NCAA, but Samson had his hair buzzed when he arrived in madden. Will a full off-season fix the problem!? Or does he just need to use the 49ers playbook and reap the benefits of the shotgun counter play!
Best win % - Daw... 100%!
That's right! The greatest coach in our league with a current win % of 100! You lose league!
"Stats matter!" Award for most like real life team - Trasher
When I see (and play) our madden lions i see the real life lions! One awesome player on offense, throw to him 99% of the time and hope for 7 wins!
Winning to lose award - Luke beating pheeniks
Luke beats pheeniks allowing crow to get into the playoffs. Then crow beats luke in the playoffs. It's a story we've seen a million times and sure enough it happened again! Some might argue that luke never should have lost to crow.... but he did. And he only had himself to blame.... even before they met head to head!
Madden 1940 Award for best offense - Eznark
If there was an internet in 1940, and madden also existed and we had a league.... then eznark would probably feel right at home! He'd probably also feel at home socially
GM of the year award sponsored by DCX - MrBob
You get it? You see the award works on so many levels. First off, DCX is known as a bad GM. So i mean it's sponsored by him. So boom you are already chuckling or maybe laughing or maybe at least just nodding. I have you. But THEN... boom I throw in MrBob! Now your interest is really up there! Why did bob trade for a WR he didn't use and we knew he wouldn't use? Who knows! But then, to kind of wrap this award up in a nice little package.... he obtained that receiver from dcx! How does that... i don't even... i mean the award elected itself in a way! You get it? Guys??
Best Drama - Dark Crow Saga
Ok first off I wanted to use the gif. Guilty as charged! However, this drama stretched over the course of 3 seasons... maybe longer who knows! Now I wouldn't try to duplicate the awesome naming of league members in the gif as that has already been done and can't be topped. But! I will present the question: Is crow Henderson, or is he someone else in the gif!?
Biggest Has-Been - Ramirez
A once great warrior reduced to having tie games and not even making the playoffs! I know that feel bro.... i know that feel
2nd Annual Smokey over Ramirez Whipping boy award - Birdman over CB
Well, luckily for ramirez, this award has been passed on.... in a way. What is it about birdman that CB can't overcome? It seemed like CB was on his way to his destiny. The superbowl title he has earned! But then no. As long as birdles is in the playoffs, CB can never be safe!
