Major Nelson Joins Commodore

Windle Poons

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
I am in the pre-order queue for a Commodore 64 Ultimate so naturally have ended up on their mailing list. It would seem that Larry Hyrb has joined Commodore as a Community Development Advisor.

DOVER, DELAWARE — MAR 11, 2026 — Commodore today announced that games industry icon Larry Hryb has joined the company as a Community Development Advisor, where he will help support and expand the global community surrounding the iconic Commodore brand.

Man, I'm very curious about what the financials are like for Commodore and Atari today

They are very different companies to those in the good old days, but I'm glad the names didn't completely go away. Same way I'm happy that Microprose name has returned.

I have to say I'm surprised about this hire, because I don't think that the market for Commodore branded computers is that big, certainly not worth millions.

I'm not interested in buying whatever Commodore is slinging, but I would be interested in buying a velvet blazer:

I guess he's already putting in work.

Commodore is still around, and needs a Community Development Advisor? Is this like finding out somebody got a job as a store manager for Sears?

Yeah, they look like they're mostly a redbubble store now. Tshirts and mugs. With a few C64 variants for sale.
