Major Xbox influencers and Ambassadors pulling support over multiplatform rumours

If you found out that you've been lied to, after feeling like something is off but you kept on believing it.......I can see why "they" are the ones to take it the hardest. Next week will be the beginning of the damn breaking. It's bigger than a crack. But yes, it's also not going to be an immediate flood.

But the flood is coming and they know it.
All very possible but I don't think Xbox is throwing in the towel like so many wants to believe

I'm starting to get legitimately concerned for the mental health of these guys. I propose we set up a fund so they can get the appropriate psychiatric support during this difficult time. Plot twist: the fund is used to send PS5 systems

By everyone who thinks this meeting next week is an Xbox death knell

Microsoft gaming will be strengthened by these moves. It doesn't make sense for a company that has acquired a massive position in the publishing space to continue to fight against the single largest platform selling their games. Microsoft has a responsibility to its stockholders to make money. They will make a hell of a lot more money publishing games on PlayStation than continuing to try and fight a war they cannot win.

So ultimately, the "influencers" believe Xbox (consoles) is the sacrificial lamb here. Microsoft ain't pulling the plug on it, per se, but the writing is on the wall and that is why the "influencers" are freaking out.

Maybe, console sales have not look good for them for quite awhile now

Will be curious how quickly those influencers calm down and go right back to singing praises IF Phil states Xbox hardware isnt going anywhere.

I remember a lot of people (even on this very forum) that swore off Playstation if they ever started putting games on PC and look how that turned out

Several notable Xbox influencers have publicly withdrawn their support for the brand, following media reports claiming that first-party Xbox games could soon start appearing on PlayStation.

Although not yet officially confirmed, the reports have led to a major backlash within the Xbox community, including from notable Xbox influencers with large followings, who are unhappy that games previously marketed as Xbox exclusives will be made available on other console platforms.

‘Timdog’, another notable Xbox influencer with 82,000 followers – including Spencer, Xbox’s marketing leads and the official Xbox account – made a more dramatic declaration on Monday, streaming a 7-hour Spaces audio discussion on X under the headline “I’m not an Xbox fanboy anymore”.

He later tweeted:

He added:

YouTuber Doc_Dark, a self-proclaimed “console war content creator”, posted a video in which he sang for three minutes about the situation.

Xbox influencer, KidSmoove, another X user followed by Xbox executives, changed his Twitter banner to a logo reading, “Fuck Xbox”.

Elsewhere, some social media users have posted tweets stating that they’re trading in their consoles, with one showing receipts proving they have already done it, despite the reports still being unconfirmed at the time of writing.

In a more disturbing turn unrelated to any of the influencers mentioned in this story, Xbox’s senior media manager shared an image showing a message in which an anonymous user wished him harm over the situation.

This is not only on the community side whomever, reports via MAGG Podcat says sources inside Xbox say , staff are dissatisfied with changes in their compensation structure, particularly the absence of sales bonuses under Xbox's ownership. Xbox does not disclose sales number. This discontent has led to leaks and a sense of dissatisfaction among the staff. Which is why the rumors leaked.

I imagine everyone at MS doesn't really care about a few console warriors having temper tantrums.

None of them will do what they say they are. It's all performative like children

Oh.....they absolutely want Microsoft to pull its patented "we heard you and we are back tracking our plans". I don't think affirming Xbox hardware will do it though. They are strung up on games going to PlayStation.

But yeah.....the folks who freaked out about PlayStation on PC were a small group on forums like these. No one knows of guys like Bryantk outside here and the other forum. The Xbox crowd on social media is very loud and highly organized.

Completely Unreasonable
I reckon Phil's going to give enough reassurance to the faithful next week that it'll be back to business as usual pretty soon.

NGL: They had me in the first half. Etc.

I think this is the lamest side of social media. Where reactions must be taken to extremes, because that's what gets people to click, like or subscribe. I can't imagine what influence it will have on every day interactions once a full generation of kids has been immersed in it and copied it for a decade.

In the grand scheme of things how much do the actual zealots of either side actually make up the player base?

I have said here before my adult son in his 30s plays solely on Xbox and we played last night and I asked him if he heard about this and he hadn't and his reaction to some games going to PS?

Who gives a fuck?

It wont change how he plays or where he buys his games and hardware in the least bit

the worst thing is Gamestop will drop the trade in value to like 125.00 from he 300 currently for the X.

Better sell now if you think they are going Multiplatform. However I dont believe what were hearing. I believe there are 100 different thoughts on the plan for XBOX and some of these just never happening but people are leaking them for clicks right now.

Bunch of attention seekers. Most of them really didn't have a PS5 yet?

I mean its just a rumour, even though things do seem to point out this way, there is no official word yet. And its not like Xbox is losing games. If I was deep into its ecosystem by now, I would just stay on. You'll likely get the games first on Xbox anyway.

If it was "good" news, or the multiplatform rumors were false, MS would've quashed them immediately rather than waiting for an "announcement" next week.

Who knows what the details are, but there's clearly truth that they're bringing their 1st party games to other platforms.

Some yes, but I dont think they are going Multiplatform like everyone seems.

“I pray to god that you remember, the beginning of this generation when we had a chance,” starts Doc_Dark’s original song. “Everything was lined up, but now it looks like it’s over,” he continued, holding aloft an Xbox Series Sconsole. “I shouldn’t be crying, but I just can’t let it go…

This can’t be real… talk about being deep into delusion. If dude is legitimately crying over this he needs some mental help. I’m not saying that to be glib either. That’s not the behavior of a well-adjusted, rational person.

I openly admit to being an Oakley brand whore since the days they made BMX grips. If they suddenly stopped making eyewear, my reaction would be a moderate shrug. I like their products but I’m not defined by them.

They're either going all in or not at all. They might start inbetween but its only going to end in one direction.
Exactly. They will start small to condition their fanbase not to be overly concerned and then it’ll gradually increase.

A year ago, Xbox faithful were absolutely convinced Starfield and HiFi Rush were permanently Xbox/PC exclusives and would never be anywhere else. Now they’re spinning and beginning to accept they’ll be on other platforms.

Eventually they’ll be rationalizing Halo and Gears being on PlayStation. That’s the entire plan. Like I wrote in a different thread the other day, it’s the classic frog in a pot scenario.

It is a good question. We don’t really know the long term impact on the hardware, I guess. I remember years ago after the Xbox One reveal debacle and a couple of years after Microsoft backtracked on their elaborate plans for the console, there was a couple of people in a GameStop talking about how you couldn’t play used games on Xbox One. It wasn’t true but that word had gotten around. Time will tell how this plays out long term, but if the conventional wisdom is that PlayStation will play Xbox games then Xbox becomes a really hard sale.

It sucks when you quit your job in protest and have to find something else.

Taking a stand is fine, but in the end it’s a small plastic box that connects to your TV.

Their influencers are a huge part of how Xbox operates but I think their kicking and screaming has no influence on what is coming

I also think the abandon ship alarm was premature
It is possible that the abandon ship alarm could be warranted for the influencers but not for the overall gaming community / Xbox owners. The influencers' business models seem to depend much more on "console warrior" approval than Xbox ever will. So maybe their kicks and screams are personal to them because they know an expanded audience for MS games would neuter the interest in the influencers' content.

Hardcore fanboyz loosing their minds lol
It is baffling when one thinks a company can just strongarm themselves into an industry with money and nothing to back it up. Microsoft came in after purchasing Halo and Rare. Halo is a joke these days, and Microsoft is finding out Donkey Kong didn't come with the Rare purchase by now. Yeah. 76 billion seems like it was throwing good money after bad.

Yeah those kind of news/rumors just need everybody to take sometime to reflect upon....But internet being internet it's always emotional overreactions.Take some time and watch how everything pans out, that's what I try to do, instead of gloating or mourning instantly like some. We'll know more next week so until then its wild speculation time!!!

On one hand, I sort of get it since these guys incomes were tied to Xbox, but it really isn't going anywhere. They can still be Xbox fans - they are just crying about the fact that they cannot play console wars the same way anymore - grown ass men btw.

Saying Halo is a joke is the only joke I see here ..

I sometimes wonder why this is the case, we can attribute it to the "paid shills" stuff - but I think if you do more digging you'll get some interesting answers, I noticed following the Xbox One launch, many Xbox fans wanted to voice their opinions about their frustration, which lead to many of them making Youtube channels, podcasts, websites - and Xbox's past few years have been bad to say the least and these Xbox voices have been getting more and more relevant because of it amongst their userbase.
