I have read that they need to sell 11 million units just to break even... so, with so many PS4 systems still in use, why not? 🤷
it's not like it's gonna be hard to port given that this very much conservative when it comes to graphics features and complexity.

a Switch 2 port is probably only gonna happen if it is successful, as that platform doesn't have as many active players as the PS4 yet.

I think it's safe to say most people have no idea what the actual number they need to sell to make their money back is.

This was not a decision made out of fear, panic, etc.

This was a decision that was specficially withheld so people wouldn't lose their shit over a Cross-Gen game given where we are in the current gen life cycle. They didn't want the bad press so they haven't done a press release.

Do people actually think you can "panic publish" a fucking game on two platforms?

If Marathon wasn't dead already this would guarantee the game has a limited future... Can't wait to hear about what can't be added to the game because the legacy consoles can't handle it.

Lmao yes, absolutelly published in panic.
If this was intended then they would had announced this loooong ago. It isn't even announced officially, whats the reason to be hidden lol
Definitivelly a plan b.
I am sorry but that isn't how publishing a multi-regional game works.

They already have ENOUGH grief over "stealing" the art.
Even early previews for the theme and art style was polarizing.
And after their open server slam there were many grumbles about the state of the UI and the "chaotic mess" (not my opinion...just a quote I cherry picked) that is the match onboarding.

No way they are going to dump gasoline on the shit storm of a fire they are dealing with and say "oh and we built the assets so they could be optimized with PS4 60fps targets (which it is) in mind."

If it's true, they havent announced it yet because gamers would rag on it being a multigen port. Like any marketing, you only show the good stuff. Let customers find out the bad stuff at the end.

Similar to Highguard not telling people it's only 3 on 3 teams with a loot chest phase until launch info came out. The trailer at TGA said nothing about that.

Is that why Fortnite and Roblox are everywhere?

Oh...wait...
why, yes. Desperate for money at the cost of making the game better

Because Fortnite could be way better if it did not work on shitty phones

Now... Marathon will be pulled down last gen specs - it must now work on mechanical drives and shitty ass cpu:s.

This means we cannot really expect Marathon to evolve much - because the ceiling is so low. The will not have enough RAM to just add lots of enemies etc. Sea of Thieves has this exact problem - pulled back by Xbox One support

You do realize they didn't just make this decision last week right? That's not how that goes in terms of level design. The game is an online PC game as well. They designed this to work in toasters lol.

Holy shit that's bad lolll. I used to see morons like this back when I used to play COD and battlefield in middle school/hs and they'd rage out cause they couldn't shoot worth a damn and would blame the game for them sucking. There's sooooooooo many damn scrubs on shooting games nowadays and you can tell instantly if someone is one or not just by how they play.
