Marathon Server Slam CCU Watch

Destiny 1 I felt that a little. That's where they peaked imo. The shit they pulled with sunsetting content really put a sour taste in a lot of peoples mouths. Just look at the reviews for any of their expansions for D2. They're utter shit
That community really is something. Everything is "shit", but they still want more, lmao.

Woah woah woah. I love me some peak Destiny but peak Bungie is Halo 3 and Halo Reach.
I couldn't agree more. Some of the best moments I had in a Bungie game were with Halo 3 and Reach.

Forsaken was awesome what are you talking about?

None of the people who actually played Destiny at the time gave a shit about removing content nobody played.

You log onto Destiny 2 as a new player and you have zero clue what the hell is going on. It's a complete mess and even more confusing to explain to people trying to get into it. But yeah, sunsetting content was a pretty obvious red flag to not be excited and keep expectations in check with anything they put out going forward

Played 90 minutes.

My CCU goalposts were...

Worst case: A little better than Hunt Showdown

General expectation: About half of ARC Raiders

Best case: Close to ARC Raiders

After 90 minutes, I'm dropping expectations closer to Hunt Showdown levels. It's just not as welcoming as anticipated. I'll push through the density but I know a lot of people won't.

I think I died 5 times in 90 minutes and each time I got knocked was super anti climatic. "WTF knocked me?" is not a great experience. Will play more tonight.

You were the chosen one!

Initial thoughts:
Overall I enjoy it(positive outlook). Bungie still has retained its gunplay and it feels very destiny like. Though the game feels a bit lower in quality under Arc Raiders.

Pros:
Gunplay (snappy and effective)
World aesthetic. This is completely subjective but I do like this "sterile" look. The colors pop and look nice to me.
Generally fun despite cons.
Bots are genuinely challenging but maybe just a newbie experience.
Reviving a finished off teammate is nice and a rewarding thing after winning a teammate

Cons:
TTK feels too low. I mowed some people down almost instantly.
Character models. They just look... bad to me. Seems disappointing from a dev like Bungie.
Empty world. You either wait for the game to say "more bad dudes incoming" or just run into a team.
UI is a mess. Takes a bit to get used to vs other games. Seems less intuitive
Story and narrative seems really like an afterthought but does that really matter in a game like this?

I'm a Marathon supporter but this CCU seems low for a Free Weekend with only a 15Gb download.

I mean Arc Raiders in its 4th month is still having higher CCU than Marathons Pre-LAUNCH free weekend.

Different argument.

Bollocks. TFS is like a 90 or so. D2 itself and TWQ well in the 80s.

Anyway, this is a Marathon server slam thread, not D2 retcon shit.

Yeah, it's yet another live service game from Bungie which is what we're talking about.

Regardless, I'm downloading Marathon tonight and will play with some friends. Hope they fixed the UI complaints from the previous playtest but I doubt it.

It's not even the weekend yet, though.
