Well, consider this: Mewtwo is likely to be shown during the next Direct and release soon after - if not immediately following the Direct. Folks have until the end of March to register Smash 3DS/Wii U code to "unlock" the character. A Nintendo Direct occurring next week is more likely than one this week.

Welp...

I really hope the next home console is powerful enough to run games with some AA
Plus a better lighting and shading would make Mario Kart the best thing ever.
Those are my only concerns. They can keep the same geometry/poly count as this game as long as they work on other visual aspects.
