(firstly, I'm not a snaker
I haven't really played Mario Kart DS online that much until the last few days when I finally got a wireless router (just to play MK none the less). So, I've probably played about 30-40 games now and I was pleased to find only a couple of people that snaked; lag was fine; blue shells weren't as used as much as I expected but I was getting a little frustrated to sometimes be in last and only be given 3 ghosts on the final lap... like that's going to help!!
Anyway, aside from the above, which didn't really seem to bad, I did however get very agitated towards all the people who keep dropping out of every game I was in. Just because I win the first two races doesn't mean I'm some badass... I'm just online to have fun, if these wimps stick around for the next race, who knows? Maybe they'll win. But NO, they wuss out at the first sign of trouble. When I'm losing I stick at it, because when I eventually fluke a win, I have so much more satisfaction as I beat someone who's a better racer than I.
So, after spending more time searching/waiting to race than actually racing, I decided that the only way to keep these gamers online is to start hustling them. I now find myself hitting walls, falling off the track, doing non-turbo starts and always letting someone else win the 2nd (and or 3rd) race so that people think they can win the championship and we can all have a solid 4 races with nobody quitting.
I've never experienced this many dropouts in any online game before. Be it in BF2, CS, Grand Prix Legends or any RTS I can think of. What is it about Mario Kart that makes people run away and hide in the corner?
