This news report just got released that Martin Shkreli is found guilty of securities fraud: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...wpisrc=al_alert-COMBO-economy%2Bnation&wpmk=1

August 4, 2017

Martin Shkreli was convicted of three counts of securities fraud.

He faces up to 20 years in prison, though legal experts say he is likely to get much less.

Shkreli was dressed in a short-sleeve polo shirt and shook his head in apparent disbelief when the first guilty verdict was read. His father in the front row put his head in his hands.

Honestly they need to start giving people like this the max. All the people who defraud etc do as much damage as a violent crime even if its not a directly violent.

But anything less that 5 - 10 years is bullshit.

I can't help but feel this is just skewering the small fish. While the actual powerful people who really fuck over a country sit smugly in their luxurious chairs smoking some of the finest cuban cigars.

The bureau will do the bare minimum to show the people, "Hey! Look at us work SOOO hard to catch the bad people," while sharing tacit understanding with the really wealthy not to investigate into them too deeply.

*facepalm*

You're better than this Zaraki. You're a lawyer. Why are you attacking points I didn't make? Nowhere did I state people shouldn't be tried and sent to jail for their crimes.

And what did those big fish do to break the law? Remember, you have to commit a crime to be convicted. It's the same as the people who wanted CEO's of those banks to go to jail. There's a difference between being a shitty asshole, and doing something illegal.

They don't break the law because they write the laws. And they hire extremely expensive lawyers to navigate the legal ins-and-outs of whatever loopholes allow them to circumnavigate the pesky laws they haven't "edited" or "written" yet.

Please let him be the single white collar criminal to actually get his just deserts.

Based on people misinterpreting my posts (with unnecessary snark on top of it, but hey, that's Gaf), I want to state unequivocally:

Please let him NOT be the only wealthy white collar criminal to get his just desserts.
