I've always been really interested in Marvel comics, but as a kid I didn't really have the chance to buy a bunch of them. I started reading some about a year ago, and now I'm starting to hit a wall with finding the good stuff.
Stuff that I've read so far:
Ultimate Avengers I & II and The Ultimates (Liked it quite a bit, the art is brilliant and the characters involved are ones that I'm interested in)
Deadpool (old and new up to the latest issues, my favorite Marvel character by far)
Cable & Deadpool (Loved it, probably even more than Deadpool's own comics. Cable is a great character as well. I also liked the art better)
Planet Hulk (Pretty good, but I didn't really care about the Sakaar planet or whatever it's called and the weirdass people there. Hulk is still an interesting character and I liked the way he's "mistreated" all the time and how Hulk reacts to it)
World War Hulk & Aftersmash (Better than Planet Hulk, in my opinion, with everyone pitching in to beat Hulk and his buddies. I gotta say, though, that the story had way too many characters that nobody gives two flying fucks about involved, like Heroes for Hire. Come on.)
Civil War (Quite a good story, again too many of those insignificant puny wannabe-heroes involved.)
These are probably my favorite characters: Deadpool, Cable, Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and Black Bolt. Maybe some of the X-Men, as well.
If there's any stories involving these characters of extraordinary quality that I've missed, I'd appreciate some recommendations. I also like in Marvel comics how everyone are connected, and that's probably the appeal for me in WWH and Civil War, even though I've heard some bashing on these stories. If there's any other good stories that involve a lot of the big names bumping into each other, I could be interested.
Now, I gotta say that I don't really have the interest in digging into the really ancient stuff, mainly because of the art quality. It just makes the comics way less appealing, almost being "graphic novels".
Thanks to anyone who's willing to recommend me some stuff!
