The Thor films are romantic comedies masquerading as superhero films.

Finally saw the Captain America films and they were both great. Not sure why some people on Gaf hated the first Cap movie, it was perfect in tone for a Cap film. Only problem I had is that the villain sorta just disappears at the end, I assume he'll would show up in the sequel but didn't, maybe in the third film? Either way really liked the film.

People wanted more action scenes.

The problem is Hugo Weaving doesn't really want to reprise the roll iirc

He made that very clear. The interview he gave about not wanting to do it was much worse than Anthony Hopkins', who just came across as sort of dumb. Then again, if they did force him to reprise the role, I bet he'd still do a good job at it and not phone it in like Natalie Portman.

You really don't need Weaving for Red Skull. I really liked his take on the character but practically anyone with or without a face can play the character. When he's revealed he's heavy on the make-up and CG, and when he's not he wouldn't be using that same face anyways.

The Red Skull in Lurkins Body concept from Brubaker would perfectly fit ;)

absolutely. I actually half-expected Redford to be the Red Skull. As great as Weaving was, recasting the Red Skull would be one of Marvel's easiest tasks. Recasting the heroes is much more difficult.

Am still 100% sure that this is going to happen in Captain America 3 :D

The first is a charming fish out of water film where the Asgard stuff is awful, and the Earth stuff is fun. Then the second is set mostly on Asgard and is boring as Hell, but all the Earth stuff is ridiculous because they act like Thor/Jane are star-crossed lovers when they had, what, a days interaction?

MCU Jane Foster is beyond awful as a character.

As much as I enjoy both films, I actually agree, Jane Foster is pretty blah, and I felt like, especially in the second film, she didn't really have any chemistry with Hemsworth.

Watching the deleted scenes for Thor 1 REALLY makes me wish they could've done some kind of extended Director's Cut. Really feels like it could've fixed the "Asgard is Boring" complaints and also given the Warriors 3 some more deserved screentime.

No way is IM3 on Thor 2's level. IM3 was a divided film for fans but it's still good.
Even if you take all of the Marvel out of the movie and just judge it on it's merits as a film, Iron Man 3 is a badly made movie. By far the worst of all the Marvel movies. The last third of it is a complete mess.

I think that title goes to Ironman 2 which was abysmal.

'My dad new that when I grew up I'd take a bomb to the chest and build an arc reactor magnet to keep the shrapnel from my heart. He also knew that said reactor would give me palladium poisoning and as such invented an entirely new element to fix this problem, and left the plans for it hidden in the blue prints of the Stark Expo from 73.'

What.

The.

Fuck.

Ironman 2 was so fucking stupid.

The Shield people gave their Howard Stark archives to Tony in the hopes that he would find something to save his life. Howard didn't leave Tony the secret plans because he knew that Tony would need a new chest thing to stay alive; it was just the old idea of a visionary inventor coming up with ideas beyond the technological restrictions of his time.

Sure it's a coincidence, and many people think that coincidences ruin movies, but it didn't happen the way you describe it. IM2 is still the second worst Marvel movie, but not for the reasons you describe.

You actually watched IM2? Because that doesn't happen, at least not that way.

Seriously, can we stop with all the shit listing now? This thread is about the Netflix shows yet there's been no mention of them for like 30 posts.

That's because we're all afraid they will tie into Iron Man 2 in some way.

What are you talking about? None of that is in the movie. All Tony did was swap out his energy source for one created by his dad (which wasn't so much invented as it's reverse-engineered from the cube). There's nothing about it that depends on Howard knowing in advance about Tony's condition or whatever the hell you're going on about.

He invented an entirely new element that conveniently cures palladium poisoning caused by having an arc reactor in your chest. It goes beyond plot convenience.

EDIT: Regardless, none of this actually has anything to do with this thread so we can stop this.

I'm so hyped for tomorrow. It doesn't seem like we'll be getting a costume leak but we should hopefully see it tomorrow.

I really hope it looks good.

Did you miss the part in IM 1 where they had already built the reactor but couldn't get it to work efficiently. Howard just left him his work.
