Maybe I don't understand the rules of soccer, but...

I just scored a goal in World Soccer: Winning Eleven 8.

The only problem was that the goalkeeper clearly batted the ball out with his hand. I have the replay saved. Is this a glitch, or just my misunderstanding?
 
I guess the bal has passed the goal line and the keeper stood too much off his line to save the shot/header.

That happened to me in FIFA 2005.. The ball was clearly over the line (as you can see), guess what? No goal.

Was the ball clearly over the line? It's probably just a glitch, but in the rules the entire ball has to be over the entire line to count. Even if they're not actually touching, as long as if you were directly above and couldn't see any green between the white of the ball and the white of the line, it's not a goal.
 
Oops, I thought you were complaining that the goal hadn't been given. That gif of Roy Caroll that Astrolad posted shows a goal that wasn't given.

Yeah I thought the same thing. Well, glad to see the ref got it right after all! Glad to see he's taking advantage of being put on the pitch by Konami.

I think it's the difficulty of comprehending someone complaining about being given credit for a goal they felt was debatable. 99/100 times it works the other way. ;p But I admire your impartiality.
 
That's the glory of soccer. Sometimes you get sometimes you give. This isn't like hockey where the referee can watch video replays. It's up to the linesmen to decide if the ball was in or not.

And btw, I had no idea that could happen in WE8 :lol

Pedro Mendes hit it from the half way line. The referee and linesman were too far back to see it go over. Its a good job the game was at old trafford and not white hart lane, otherwise there might have been big trouble.
 
Too many people have a go at the referee or linesman for that disallowed goal. Like you say, they were both half a pitch away (and they weren't out of position), I think it would have been impossible to definitely say that was a goal from that angle and distance.
