^there is the beast.

I needed another Xbox controller but I’m cheap so ill probably be getting a 2nd hand one, I checked in gamestation and there I saw it, “The Duke” I asked if I could handle it and the clerk obliged, it felt big and strong when he passed it to me, I started to doubt whether my hands could rap around its large black form, able to reach all of its points, would it keep me warm on those late nights gaming? I left the store empty handed and a little confused inside.

So anyway, is the duke a good controller? Logitech’s wireless look hot but I’m happy with cables, what Xbox controller do you guys recommend? Remember i'm cheap… thanks. :lol

I have always loved the controller's shape and weight. I have always loathed its buttons and their positions.

The Duke is for real men. Manly men. Men who can grow a full beard in an hour and spit into a cup 20 feet away. The question isn't whether or not The Duke is a good controller for you, Bigfonzie. The question is, "Are you man enough for The Duke?"

:lol @ last quote

Anyway, I never had any major problems with the original Xbox controller. I quickly got used to the oblong button shape and placement, and as stated it's big beefy structure actually provided a nice base. I finished Halo and played lots of PGR with it until I switched to the S-controller, which I'm currently using.

And I have small Asian hands.

On an unrelated note, I'm playing RE4 over again on Pro and the GC controller just feels perfect for this type of game. Maybe it's a familiarity thing, though.

We've always called it The Bear Claw.

Naw, that's the N64 controller.........The XBox 'duke' is what a cow would use for brass knuckles. BUt I have some freinds with huge hands that love that beast. ;)

One of my classmates has a graduate job with MGS, he said there is a xbox360 version of the duke coming...personally i cant wait, nothing beats old school duke for FPS action.

I love the duke.

i hate the redesigned controller in comparison, moving the black and white button under the others was a huge no-no in my book.

it's comfy and just feels right too. :lol

come on awnser my question, if this thing good? I didnt think it was too big when i was holding it but is the logitech or s-controller better? also i like how the black and white buttons are easier to get too.

guess you did not read my response?

YES the black and white buttons are WAY WAY better in thier placement on the duke.

The actual controller size never bothered me w/ the duke (aka Bear Claw). But the duke's triggers are too large for me. I need quick triggers, not slow ones.

Also, the thumb 'grip' for the sticks are better on the S-Type. The duke has nearly no thumb grip for the analogs.

The black and white buttons, I think, are better positioned on the S-Type. They're less of a 'stretch' on the S-Type.

Long live the Duke....

I swear by the mighty black beast. Its the finest controller ever made. I purchase 4 as back ups when I found out they were discontinued. The power of the Duke compels you!

I bought an S when they came out, but I still use the Duke. I keep a couple of S's around for folks who cannot handle the Duke.

Wait, are you kidding me? I hate the Duke for fighters but it is gaming nirvana for racers and FPS games, I'd buy one for sure :)

with the white and black button moved to trigger locations it might not make as huge a difference.

if the S controller would have put the white /black buttons where they were on the duke it would not be so bad itself.

im a fan of the Duke.

i do use the s-controller for some games, but the Duke is more comfy for me, and the b/w buttons are in a much better position.

really good for fps, and 3rd person action/adventure/shoot em up type games.

I can't stand the S-Type - the Duke rules. Of course, I have big hands...

Dude, that console looks AWESOME.

:lol

*wipes tears of laughter from eyes*

Yeah, it was a bitch reaching for those black and white buttons; M$ has been steadily getting this controller designing thing down over the last few years.

I completely, totally agree.

Of course I'm a bit biased... 6-8, 300lbs and have large ape hands....

The S just feels too small.

The only problem I had with the Duke, is that the button shapes would hurt my right thumb after repeated use.

DUKE = BEST CONTROLLER EVER!!!!

The triggers rock and the contour cannot be beat. I do like the ABXY Buttons of the S Controller, but the BACK, START, WHITE and BLACK buttons of the S are retarded.

I WANT A WIRELESS DUKE 360!!!!!!!!!
