Mecha BREAK, the latest game from the developers of Snowbreak: Containment Zone, launches on July 1st after waves of popular playtests since early 2024. It is a free-to-play PvP/PvPvE mecha shooter that supports cross-play functionality between Xbox and PC with the PS5 version releasing sometime later in 2025. Compared to the beta, 12 out of 15 Strikers are now unlocked by default as well as basic pilot customization without needing extra currency. The official release starts at Season 0, lasts three months, and they plan to add three more mechas every season.

Set in a post-catastrophic future where you pilot a Striker for the organization, S.H.A.D.O.W, you are tasked to help humanity's war effort by defeating rival factions and stopping the spread of Corite pollution. There are three modes: Operation VERGE (the main 6v6 mode with 10 maps and objectives such as payload race, node capture, and team elimination), Ace Arena (a 3v3 PvP competitive team deathmatch), and Operation STORM (a solo and squad-based battle royale extraction mode where you can use the mods received from supply crates). Select a Striker - attacker, defender, sniper, brawler, or supporter, customize your own pilots and mechas, and take on enemies in ground and aerial combat!

Played the beta many months back and I'm very intrigued and want to play this with others to avoid puging too much!

Is anyone interested in doing a squad or at least playing together the first couple of days to see what's up?

I'm UTC+01:00 so it's around 8pm when I'm posting this! Quote me here I'll DM my discord

I wanted to try it out since it looks cool, but it has a mandatory kernel anti cheat.

I might need to steal my brother's Xbox to give it a spin.

I like anime titties and mecha;
I don't much care for chinese-style F2P PvP

So now I'm not sure what to think.

Is this a gacha like SnowBreak? I can't see how that would possibly be pleasant in a PvP context...

Seasun are great developers as far as transparency and feedback implementation, so I think if this game gets off the ground, the support will be high tier. I love mechas and stuff, but the PVP aspect is just not it for me.

I'll give it a shot regardless, but I'm not expecting to like it, I just don't wanna deal with other people most of the time I'm gaming these days.

I'll play it today to see what it's all about. I'm not into PVP these days at all, but the Steam page says there's co-op too so we'll see. I really hope that if it's good, they'll at least consider adding PVE modes for SP and co-op.

WTF IS THIS?:messenger_pouting:

How and why would ever lock a game behind particular series of GPUs if other GPUs also support DX12 and can run the game just fine without 16GBs of VRAM? I HATE this modern trend with passion:messenger_pouting::messenger_fire:

I already thought the demo wasn't all that (gameplay, UI and QoL shenanigans) but the performance was ass as well so this doesn't instill me with much hope for that.

I did some testing and the game runs great at 120 FPS and doesn't need 4000 series and beyond for DX12 at all. VRAM usage barely goes up to 6 GB even with all settings at max with DLAA, so what was the point in locking DX12 behind newer GPUs at all? It does require 16GB (I'd say 20 should be minimum though) of regular RAM.

One other issue I have with the game is that if you choose Japanese VA (or any other except English), you won't get any subtitles for your character during gameplay at all, only for operators on the line. WTF is that, devs? There's no option in the game to toggle subtitles too, do anything about how they work and you can only change text and VA language, that's it.

Update:

Nope, I take it back. At the begining everything was smooth, but during the first mission where you need to destroy a few things and stuff on the surface FPS tanks to 45+ and there's no rock-solid 60 even, let alone 120. That's on 3080Ti. VRAM is not the issue though and I still have around 6GBs free VRAM.

Think i'm done with the game after the tutorial. Not that i didn't like it but i chose a random pilot since i was just doing the tutorial. Now i'm stuck with it. I guess i can manually edit everything but it's gonna be so much work. Maybe i'm in the mood later

so finally get around to play a little of the release today. did a lot of adjusting settings and buttons to make it the way I like it. so far I think it's ok. will be doing a little more PvP stuff tomorrow and see if I would have a good time or not. might just put in a few bucks for that season 0 kit and try things out. not a big fan of having the paint colors locked for each mech and character, but I guess they have to make people keep playing some how.

Started today. Game is insane.

Tried, but stuck on the last mission of the tutorial. Playing in controller, but I kinda feel the game needs to be played on mouse, because I have to keep enemies on sight all the time. Other problem is that when you advance as a needle you simply get past it when the enemies move, so you just keep going. You can kinda move, but you can't really turn around. It's weird, I need to get the grip of the game more.

First days session finished, documenting here for whatever measure

What strikers do you use or consider the best?
Hurricane (Drones + Ultimate beams)
Stego (Missile + turret tank + Ultimate missile)
Tricera (Ultra tank + healing drones)
Welkin (Whirlwind axe + Forcefield)
Panther (Lancer + Parry)
Alysnes (Gun + Sword/Parry)

My favorites with a few notes I made for myself lol

Really looking forward to start practicing other strikers, mostly Aquila who's a pain in the ass to deal with

How about you??

I've been rotating between Alysnes/Aquila/Luminae since they can always contribute. I think the strikers are mostly balanced if you know who to target/avoid. Skyraider is the only that seems very situational/difficult to use and with none of the team benefits of Falcon.
