They get their numbers from MC. So, yeah. They'll be fairly close.

of course not, but it is a game staring one of Nintendo's oldest and most beloved characters. I'm pretty sure even the GC bongo game (not the music ones) sold better than 30,000k in the first week?

DK Bongo Blast had little to no hype going for it. I do hope the game is a competent alternative to Mario Kart Wii, but I don't think it will be.

Does anybody know how the PSP Itadaki Street did when it came out a while ago?

I'm inclinded to say worse, BUT then I remember that the number of Wiis on the marketplace is less that the number of GCs at the time of release. So... I'll conclude that 30,000 at launch is little to no different than the previous Bongo games...

You really have no idea just how non-existent GameCube was in Japan last gen, do you? Maybe 2 or 3 GCN titles made it to the MC top 10 across an entire YEAR, and after the first week in the top 10 they promptly plummeted off the chart and into obscurity. And that was Nintendo titles, more often than not.
Considering this is a GameCube port that no one really anticipated anyways, I'd say this is moderately respectable numbers.

Probably not, the primary market is NA and TP did a lot better here. I guess it could happen depending on how well PH does here but Aonuma said in Nintendo Power another Celda is not likely to happen.

The GameCube did better than that actually, but still quite unremarkable compared to PS2, Wii, GBA and DS.

I checked out the latest NP today. He said that he'd love to make "a Wind Waker" (I'm assuming this means a new cel-shaded Zelda) for the Wii, but it probably wouldn't happen. Let's hope PH does great here.

To be truthful, I never really started paying attention to MC threads until the DS was released, I guess I just jumped on the hype train, lol. So what you're saying, is that this particular bongo game is half the game that either of the other Bongo games were, yet is pulling in similar first week sales numbers, basically riding Wii-mania, and will have weak, but considerably better, "legs" than the previous games?

Million seller? Maybe, but that's far from guaranteed at this point.
