Now balandor is fair for everyone.

You can google multiple outlets reporting. Supposedly he will formally announce later today. Turned down nearly 1 BILLION from Saudi Arabia to play for just 2 years.
According to the Athletic, the MLS will have a pretty good offer too. So the "1 billion" offer from Saudi Arabia is not that outlandish in comparison. Still, the money is flowing like water. Messi, Benzema, Christiano Ronaldo, Ngolo Kanté...

Shame. Should be playing in top leagues for another year or 2. The man looks done on the field nowadays though.

MLS? REALLY? Isn’t Inter Miami the last in the table in a snoozefest league?

I thought it was Inter Milan at first and had to do a double take. But yes, Americans have their own crappy football league which nobody hardly watches in the country.

Soccer must be the only sport where great players get payed even more when they are at end of their career by joining these ultra shitty teams full of money:lollipop_grinning_sweat:
Look at Karim benzema saudia league wage.

WHAT HAPPENED? Benzema has long been linked with a big-money move to the Middle East and said farewell to Real Madrid on Tuesday. He has now been unveiled as an Al-Ittihad player. The France international is understood to have signed a two-year contract with an option for a further year, which is set to pocket him a staggering €200 million (£172m/$213m) per season.

In all fairness to Messi, he could've earned way more if he went to Saudi Arabia like Benzema and Ronaldo. Benzema is now earning €200m per season on a 2-year deal. Messi would've been on double that.

That's not a huge bar to pass though. Out of the 4 major leagues in US sports the NHL is easily the least viewed. More people watch baseball for crying out loud, freaking slow and boring baseball!

Still pretty good for a league that is less than 30 years old. When basketball for example was 30 years old in the 70's it was distant behind NFL and MLB. Now its in striking distance of MLB, and can even out perform it during playoff series(although world series still holds firm against NBA finals). I see no reason why MLS cant do the same compared to MLB(which I view as a dying sport).

Not a fair comparison. NBA basketball has always been energetic and fast-moving, especially in the 80s with the emergence of the Showtime Lakers. Baseball has gotten too bloated and boring for many viewers with most fans usually going with their grandparents out of obligation. MLS can't do the same because soccer is still seen as an outside sport (despite the fact that most American sports are from outside America) and people hate it when the ball goes back and forth instead of constantly going forward like in the NFL and NBA. Besides, it's not the top level of soccer in the world anyway and championships don't mean anything as a result.

He chose the happiness of his family and talks about how the ordeal leaving Barcelona and some rumors making him look bad back when he first left.

Didn't want to be the reason for cutting other players and it shows how he's not as much about the large dollars as much as his kids and wife's happiness. That's called humility.

All of a sudden, I want to look up where Inter Miami is going to be playing next year and figure out how to get tickets if his team is actually going to visit my town

I can tell my kids I saw the GOAT once, even though technically it was when he was playing in his retirement league at the age of 37 but who fucking cares about that minor detail

I thought he was still a top 5 player in the world. Is that no longer the case? I literally don't watch Soccer at all.

I never met anyone who liked Benzema. Sure he can play the ball but he's a charisma vacuum and has no funny personality gimmicks other than sex tape extortion. I just can't fathom being a fan of him.

Tickets are skyrocketing for the game near me in Orlando. Prices for normal games are in the 13-20 range. Earlier the first game Miami comes to Orlando had tickets start around 300 and those are not pitch side.

Apparently season tickets sold out immediately and they're taking 2000USD NON REFUNDABLE deposits to get a chance for 2024 season tickets.

You can see hipsters in football country where I live(atlanta) running around with atlanta united shirts and jerseys. I dont think its as far away our outside as you think.

I’d say he’s still top 10. Maybe top 5 as of now. He has been a little mediocre since leaving Barcelona besides having an excellent World Cup. He’s not really that attacking foward he used to be. Mbappe takes that spotlight on PSG while Messi takes a more play maker role there. He barely does any running but has a great mind of the game and puts up great passes and gets himself a decent amount of goals.

I don’t think he’ll be that exciting player to watch in Miami. But his presence alone is exciting. TBH it looks like he’s done with the sport. I don’t blame him. Him and Ronaldo have been in the spotlight for a ridiculously long time. And they’ve both accomplished almost everything. We won’t be seeing anything like these two in our lifetime

I like Benzema. He has more of a personality than Messi. No where near the same talent though. He’s been a pretty consistent striker for the biggest clubs in the world. A lot of people like him.

Pele then Messi.

American football teams for non-US players is just the elephant graveyard from Lion King. They're going there to die.
Well, Ibra went back to Europe after his time in the US. Maybe Messi will do the same. My guess is 1-2 years in the US and then send-off in Barca for a season or two. It would just be wrong him announcing his retirement anywhere else but Barca.

Nashville and Miami play for the league cup on Saturday. Normally you can get Nashville tickets for about $25. But since it’s Messi tickets are going for up to $11,000.

does america have a cup he maybe wants to win to extend his legacy? maybe that's his goal. There is straight up nothing to win for him in europe anymore.
