Metal Gear Solid:Twin Snakes Depreciation Thread

Interesting how most of the OP complaints would probably hold true for the entirety of the original PS1 version of MGS. In that context, this entire thread has been severely derailed from the second post.

Aside from the select few that politely referenced the original post and addressed a few of his concerns, does anyone actually read posts anymore, or do they just go with the topic title?

What, people actually read posts? I thought that happened about as often as people knowing there is actually a gaming-age site. ;)

Anyway, there was never any real purpose to my thread other than to open whatever anyone wanted to discuss about any point (or even if I have any)I brought up. Maybe I dislike MGS:TTS, maybe I just simply dislike MGS fullstop (or 'period' for you Americans).

The Twin Snakes was nothing compared to the original MGS. First, the voice acting was so terribly lame, it had no soul and looked like if they were reading it from a card, as in opposite to the original where it was fuckin deNiro-quality acting. I got mad just hearing the people talk. Shut the hell up, you sound way too forced. Why the hell did they record everything all over anyway? And as if that wasn't bad enough, they replaced the voice actors of the Ninja and Psycho Mantis....suck. Then they took out all the original sounds and music in the game. Way to go. It felt more like a Resident Evil game with its eerie and silent tunes than a Metal Gear game.

Metal Gear Solid was/is awesome. The whole metallic/electric synthesized music fitted the atmosphere perfectly. You can't re-enact atmosphere. At least not in many many cases.
And then the graphics, you can say that TTS looked better than MGS TECHNICALLY, but I like the visuals of MGS better. I never liked the look of MGS2, TTS and MGS3. They look way too clean and shiny.
Metal Gear Solid 1 looked cold and gritty. It really felt like you were there, alone in Alaska freezing your butt off in the cold areas and buildings. Lets be honest, MGS doesnt look ugly or outdated at all. That is, if you dont zoom in on places or the close-up of the faces. And for last, if graphics are your concern, you should gtfo and go watch CGI movies. I hate people who say "but the graphics are horribly dated, it hurts my spoiled little eye-candy whore eye :(" .
Play a game or bust.

The gameplay was a thing they screwed up too. MGS2's gameplay simply doesnt fit in MGS1. First person view doesnt belong in MGS1. It ruined the gameplay and made the game too easy. The tranq gun is also one of those things.

My God, it's like Twin Snakes took a shit on your lawn.

WHY DO THEY PUT ANTI-LOCK BRAKES IN CARS? BACK IN MY DAY, WE HAD MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS, NONE OF THIS NEWFANGLED "AUTOMATIC" TRANSMISSION OR "POWER" STEERING! WHO NEEDS ALL THESE NEWFANGLED COMPUTER GADGETS OR "ON-STAR" DOOHICKIES? ALL WE NEED ARE FOUR WHEELS AND AN ENGINE, IT FIT THE ATMOSPHERE OF AUTOMOBILE TRAVEL PERFECTLY!

I've played every MGS game more than any of you....maybe combined. As such, I am uniquely qualified to speak on Twin Snakes place in the MGS pecking order.

So what do I think? Twin Snakes kicks ass. You can't like the MGS series and not like Twin Snakes. If you somehow fall in to this category, it's because your perception is tainted in some deeply disturbing and illogical fashion.

Twin Snakes is a great game, period.

There are legitimate complaints that weigh against the game's greatness sure, but nothing significant enough to make Twin Snakes just a good or mediocre game. Let the hate stop, it's time.
