Metroid Online

Searched Spong metroid online.

One senior US retail source told SPOnG over the weekend, “The game will be fully online and we were as surprised as anyone. Nintendo told us that we should 'think along the lines of Halo 2, deathmatches, online leagues and so on'. It is going to be shown running online at E3 and will hit [in the US] in mid-summer.”

I'll wait for this along with my Palm DS software.

Folder, where art thou...

Awesome if true. The demo controls like a dream but I have a few issues.... jelly metroid things (xenomorph or something?)... yeah, anyway, they're shit. No variation from coloured Samus' in multiplayer? How about those federation trooper guys? Space pirates? It needs more arenas than are in the demo. Unless it has a single player mode and that's the selling point, a multiplayer mode of Mario 64 DS' depth simply won't fly. Unless it flies like shit into a fan that is. And that part in the demo where I could walk through the blue vertical lift platform?.... no no no!

That said: bring it on! Lots of morph-ball-play, cool levels and silly weapons please!

If it's like Prime Multiplayer with Stylus controls, count me out.
If there is a huge array of weapons and some awesome, sprawling maps, count me in.

Metroid? A Halo killer? For real?

I think I may cry. I don't care if it's good or not, I just want a new Metroid game.

Wait...is this going to be for DS or GC?

Well, there have already been more Metroid games in the last 3 years than there were in the previous 15, so things could be worse.

True.

I'd still rather see a real Metroid sequel, or even no new Metroid game at all than an FPS clone with the Metroid IP splashed over it.

Nintendo has said that the first online game will be AC in the fall.. MPH comes out before that.
thats where i get hung up though. Did they say the first online game, or one of the first? and only the first they said outright. Because it would be pretty stupid to have mario kart, metroid and animal crossing all out after e3 big online details, and only one online.

thumb strap + D-Pad = keyboard + mouse controls ..

so the DS is the BEST console to date to control FPS games, and I'm couting home consoles too ..

if you use a stylus with Metroid then you're STUPID ..

D-Pad acts like the WASD, and the touch screen(thumb strap) acts like the mouse ..

:lol :lol

No. Mouse + Keyboard >>>>> thumbstrap + D-Pad

However, the DS control for FPS is still extremely good and better than most alternatives we have at the moment for consoles/handhelds.

Problem is, you don't have much access to many other buttons except for L...

actually you do ..

they can add buttons to the touch screen where if you tap on them you activate them, but if you were turning and you pass on them they do nothing ..

just like the morph ball button on the touch screen.. I use my left thumb to activate that

...DS..... what sense would a 3rd metroid game, and ONLINE at that make for GC at this point?

I'm no insider, but I have an extremely strong feeling that MP3 will be on GameCube. It wouldn't be completely illogical considering the BC of the Revolution, and the statements that Nintendo has made regarding continuing support of the Cube. If the two-year gap between MP and MP2 repeats itself, it would come out late 2006, right about the time of the Revolution.

I don't look down for morph ball or missiles ..

but hey .. thats me
Yeah, same here. It's not too hard to find those buttons without looking at them, especially when they're in the corner of the screen.

The multiplayer of MP: H sounds good and can only get better if they have more maps, weapons, etc.. but I want to know about the single player game. The modes offered on First Hunt were interesting but didn't carry much depth. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Interesting. This could explain the delay. Game was originally supposed to be out in May-ish, no?

So that's 3 online DS games so far...

-Metroid Prime: Hunters (summer)
-Animal Crossing to Go! (fall)
-Mario Kart DS (fall)

...decent so far but I'm worried about Advance Wars 3 not making the cut. :(

I remember some EA interview from a while ago saying the next Madden game would definitely have online play. Who knows if that will actually happen, though, eh? ;)

And Metroid better be online. It's practically made for multiplayer use, and FPS's have always been popular online, soooooo.. there ya go. Plus the demo is fun and controls well. :D

Having to look down at the screen to change weapon and what not is not cool.

its not like you are taking your eyes off of a television set to look at your controller. the screens are basically touching.
