In a new article on the official Japanese Nintendo website, the difficulty settings in Samus' new mission on Planet Viewros have been detailed. When you start this adventure, you will be able to select from either a 'casual' or 'normal' mode. Casual mode will lower enemy HP and reduce the amount of damage Samus takes, and is recommended for first-time players. And as you probably guessed, normal mode offers the standard Metroid Prime experience. If you want a tougher challenge, once normal mode is cleared, you'll unlock hard mode.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Difficulty Settings

The same post has also detailed how players will also be able to adjust certain other in-game settings. This includes the ability to fine-tune the sensitivity of the analog and mouse controls, which can help if you're struggling with movement or aiming. You'll also be able to adjust the screen display and volume settings to your liking. You can see what else Nintendo has revealed about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond in our previous coverage.

Honestly, i would play MP4 in casaual mode because it's no DOOM or such thing, it's focus relies on exploration not twitch shooter. I usually like hard modes but not with Metroid Prime.

You cheated not only the game, but yourself.

You didn't grow.

You didn't improve.

You took a shortcut and gained nothing.

You experienced a hollow victory.

Nothing was risked and nothing was gained.

It's sad that you don't know the difference.

The difference in difficulty seems to just be Enemy HP and how much damage Samus will take from attacks. Going Normal for sure. Casual would mean fights wouldn't last as long.

This is pretty much how it's always worked in Metroid Prime but it's good to have confirmation.

I sort of wish Hard was unlocked from the start, but mostly because it's convenient to jump to that years down the line when my save file implodes or whatever.

Next gen has arrived folks. SETTINGS ARE HERE!

I love how Nintendo keeps forcing hard mode junkies to keep it in their pants and suffer through the horrible experience of playing a game on normie difficulty for a couple dozen hours before they can flaunt their incredible gaming skills to the world 🤭

(I don't really love it, but the reactions are invariably funny)

I can't even begin to describe how much I hate devs hiding the difficulty levels until you've finished it. I rarely replay modern games so it just sucks.
