I just picked up a $5 used Player's Choice: Metroid Prime ---- because I heard there were some changes, or it's more based on the PAL version. I wanted to give the game another playthrough since Echoes left such a bad taste last weekend.

Sorry, I couldn't find much info with the search --- anyone in the know?? Thanx dudes :)

In before Red Scarlet.

She'll tell you all about it. :)

Meanwhile, go to metroid2002.com for answers to most Metroid questions (site has nothing to do with me, just a very well set-up, comprehensive location for all Metroid games).

In short, they took (somewhat unsuccessful) measures to eliminate/discourage sequence breaking, like early Space Jump (which can still be had, although in a slightly different manner).

Try http://www.metroid2002.com/home.php, then click on version differences. As you've played it before, you probably won't be spoiled. If you play through the game normally, you won't see too much that is changed. If you decide to try out some stuff to go through in a different order, you will be hindered by varying degrees.

They got rid of some glitches that made speedruns and sequence-breaking easier, changed the way loading worked so that it was more reliable, but now takes nearly twice as long...

I remember a Speedrun site had a detailed list of differences, but I don't have that bookmarked on this PC, so you can Google it just as well as I can. I think it was that site that had all of the Quicktimes detailing speedruns (including one that was a long run without the Varia suit through an area that drained your health without it, if that jogs anyone's memory).

Edit: Curses. Serves me right for writing a long-ish post. :P

Yeah, that was metroid2002.com.

Go smilingjack's varialess Magmoor.

Smilingjack did that? I never knew that. He's one of the Super Monkey Ball Elite as well (we're a pretty tight group).
