The new camera seems to work rather well. I'm definitely excited to get my hands on this.

The guy in the camo and the guy with the ski mask are out of place sitting next to the guy wearing a tie. :lol
 
well, Kojima seemed happy :b


damn...this game looks good. No way in well am I selling MGS3 either...looks like I'll have to get a second version of this game for collector's sake alone (first time ever doing this)

That thing is gorgeous. Especially what he drew on the left side of the system. The signature he put on there is the same as the one on my copy of MGS 3, except it says 2005 on the PS2 as opposed to 2004 on my game.
 
wow, even those very brief glimpses look sooo much better. wonder why it took them so long to do this, and it better become standard for the series.

Thats your opinon. I wouldnt go as far as saying "sooo much better". The game does look pretty cool, but I thought MGS3 camera was effective and fine the way it was. I am however looking foreward to expierencing this beautiful game in a whole new way.
 
It was only implemented since the theatric angles aren't necessary for competitive play. But Christ, this should have been done a long time ago and had better have a place in MGS4.

1UP: The new features in Subsistence -- are those features that the team originally wanted to include in the game, or are those based on feedback from people who played Metal Gear Solid 3?

I have a weakness for 3D sickness, so I wanted to overcome that, but I also wanted to experience, in MGS4, a new 3D camera that doesn't make me sick. We're experimenting with this, and we thought okay, if we're going to have MGS3 Subsistence as a complete package, why don't we put a 3D camera in MGS3 Subsistence as well?

Kojima seems to suffer from a severe case of 3D motion sickness. I can understand for a long time I couldn't play FPS and even some third person games got my dizzy, I remember trying to play Mario 64 for the first time and had to lay down a bit, I got really dizzy. I know a guy who can't even play racing games in first person mode cause it makes him want to vomit dispite the fact he loves Gran Turismo, games like Tomb Raider didn't fair any better for him either.

The online mode is also a test for MGS4, which will have a much bigger online mode since its going to be built into MGS4 from the start. He's wanting people that play MGS3:S to tell the team what they need to fix in the online mode to make it right in MGS4.

IMO, ;), it shows off the graphics much nicer then the classic overhead view too. you get a closer view of the main character, and a much better vantage of the environments. of c ourse, the gameplay would be drastically improved as well... IMO

Yeah I like the fact that I can use the game to scope out the scenery better, there were some really kickass camera shots in the trailers that showed off the graphics better because of the positions that would have been otherwise predetermined.

If there was one thing that spoilt the enjoyment of MGS3 for me, it was that thing; I hated having to go into first person view mode to see where the guards were.

Awsome reminds me of RE4 now which is a GOOD thing. Capcom TAKE NOTES I WANT MY Resident Evil Mercenaries Game with 4-8person multiplayer and 20-25 selectable RE heroes and villians. This will make the long wait for RE5 go a lot quicker.
 
That camera really doesn't remind me of Splinter Cell (even though it is similar) which is a relief.

Kojima is such an awesome guy.

He said the top down view is still in the game, i'll be playing with that. I'm not bothered by it at all since that's how i've been playing the series for years.
 
This game has all the potential to be great, but I just don't get how you'll be able to sneak up and do stealth kills ala MGS3 when you'll have been seen at the bottom of there screen already.

Otherwise aren't we just looking at another SOCOM...

The camera really didn't bother me in MGS3 either. It was more Metal Gear, as you said. The switching to first person had to be done a lot in some areas, but I honestly didn't dislike it, or get mad at it. The game was just too awesome for that.
 
Why the hell is my windows media format movies (.asx .wmp etc) colors all scewed up? I've installed ffdshow and divx, that's it. :/
 
The normal MGS camera didn't bother me too much in MGS3, either, but that's because I had to shove its defects out of mind. I went back to MGS3 recently and was immediately bothered by the perspective. I adapted -again-, but for Subsistence I'll use the new camera.

I don't follow you. Why would my character show up at the bottom of someone else's screen because of a new camera?

EDIT: Oh I think I see what you mean now. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but I'm sure they worked it out.
