Vindication...sweet.
I just saw on MTV news that Michael Bay (of Bad Boys, Armaggedon, Pearl Harbor fame) will direct/forsee the upcoming live-action Transformers movie.

The Transformers is due out in Thanksgiving 2006, being produced by Don Murphy and Steven Spielberg.

Knowing him, lots of stuff will blow up. :p

The bigger question is whether or not they'll be able to do this affordably enough to actually turn profit. Movies like this can become 500 million dollar projects really quick.

I miss you more than Michael Bay missed the mark,
When he made Pearl Harbor.
I miss you more then that movie missed the point,
And that’s an awful lot girl.
And now, now you've gone away,
And all I'm trying to say,
Is Perl Harbor sucked and I miss you

I need you like Ben Affleck needs acting school,
He was terrible in that film.
I need you like Cuba Gooding needed a bigger part,
He's way better then Ben Affleck.
And now all I can think about is your smile,
And that shitty movie too,
Perl Harbor sucked and I miss you

(Interlude)

Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies.
I guess Perl Harbor sucked,
Just a little bit more then I miss you.

For the record, he has yet to sign on, but talks are indeed happening. I can only assume that Spielberg and the rest of Dreamworks are pleased with what he's done with The Island then.

In my opinion, I think Michael Bay would be perfect for a project like this. I don't quite get the people that just attack him over everything. I think if you give this guy a good action script, he'll turn out a good movie. I love The Rock. Armageddon has moments. Pearl Harbor sucked, but I credit that far more to atrocious script than his direction.

I say sign him up.

I though Robert Zemeckis was doing this.
The only reference to him and The Transformers I can find goes back to summer 2003 when Michael Bay, Joseph Kahn and Zemeckis were rumored possibilities.

Live action transformers movie?

Damn, it's either going to be a fugly CG-fest or go the way of Mighty Morphine Power Rangers.

The original Transformers: The Movie is still awesome. Got it on DVD. :)

Only Peter Cullen and Frank Welker can make this movie good.

Oh, and this thread also reminded me how much Bad Boys II sucked ass...

Your masterful rebuttal has made me see the error of my ways. From now on I shall arbitrarily hate on everything related to this man, even if it is of no fault of his own.

Sorry, we're talking about a fucking Transformers movie. Live-action no less. Given a good script, I fail to see why Michael Bay would be a poor choice.

Two words got me interested in the prospects for these films from an article a while back, "Unicron trilogy."

They better make his size bloody consistant if that's the case FFS.
