Michael Jackson Moonwalker Arcade, forgotten about gem?

I went to a video game museum and played a restored cabinet of this last month, wild.

Anyway, no this isn't a gem. I do however have an affinity for the Genesis version, great game.

I remember playing the arcade version at a local bowling alley as a kid and thought it was well done graphics etc... console version was a disappointment

Forgotten about? What the fuck do you mean forgotten about? This game is… wait, what? This is different to the genesis megadrive game?

Yeah, some things don't need to be remembered.

The arcade version is isometric and fancier. I think you also turn into a robot. It is nuts.
Leave it to the internet to preserve it.

Thanks for posting, I'd never seen footage before.

If I'm going to pick one to play though, it's going to be the Mega Drive/Genesis version. Its gameplay isn't designed to drain your money for continues, and you get to enjoy the music more because you're not constantly blasting.

The ambiance was what really got me as a kid. One cabinet was in our bowling alley- you could smell the smoke, the bowling balls rollin, the dark lit atmosphere around you, and michael jackson in pixel form just yeeheeing around in the wierdest imaginable i visioned as a kiddo

My friend had the PCB and I also played it in the arcade when I was young. Fun game.
I don't think Mike did it tbh he was a weirdo sure but I don't think he did

I think so too. If he had bad intentions, I don't think he would confess that easily to an interviewer.

FWIW, Culkin said under oath MJ never did anything out of the ordinary and he never saw anything too. He seems to be an honest dude.

I still remember seeing this at the arcades back when it was new.
Thought the graphics were pretty good at the time.
Not a half bad game either.

I've only played the Mega Drive version, need to try this! Looks amazing. Man, I love 80's Michael Jackson.. What an icon.

Being able to play Moonwalker as THE Michael Jackson as a kid blew me away.

My second ex-girlfriend fucking rolled her eyes hard when I tried to explain to her why I think the music video for "Smooth Criminal" is the coolest shit ever. That was when I realized that it wasn't her calling me a "fart sniffer elitist" that urked me, but just her blatant disregard in knowing how fucking hard it is to throw a quarter in a bar from the entrance in a jukebox. I tried this once myself and hit a dude instead.

They are both good, but they have a strange fixation on saving children.
Part of me thinks that the saving of children probably stems from his fucked up childhood. There are stories out there that his Dad, Joe Jackson, verbally and physically abused him not just for years, but for decades.

Regarding the allegations of him also being an abuser, there is a very distinct possibility that he was. He settled with one of the kid's families for $25 million. On the other hand, other people who alleged that he abused them have had multiple suits dismissed due to lack of evidence, being untimely, etc.

Really though, if there is any veracity to these claims, the kids' parents are just as much to blame as Jackson himself. Who the fuck invites a grown adult into their home and lets them sleep in the same bed as their children or lets their child go to an adult's home unsupervised for days on end?

All it takes is some research to realize the man never hurt a child. He just wasn't that kind of person, was he naive? Was he unusual, was he eccentric? Sure, but his heart was in the right place.

If you truly want to know what's what, watch this. I see the settlement being brought up a lot and I get that. But there's a reason he did that and there is a lot many don't know about that.

I have zero doubts, he never hurt any child. Look at the ridiculous "documentary" Leaving Neverland, both men have a history of lying, hell they have made up several different versions of these alleged happenings. Real victims don't need to lie. As cliché as it might sound, but research IS key.

The biggest problem for MJ is that he was found guilty in the court of public opinion. Seems as though most people don't care whether or not he actually hurt anyone, which there really is no evidence to support that he did.

Yep. Because they all listen to what the (tabloid) media says. They see a "doc" it presents zero proof (and plenty lies that have been proven to be lies) but people don't care. At this point they just want him to be guilty, I've seen plenty mindless drones on Twitter. Ah well, fuck em, their loss.

Agreed. I personally don't think he did it either, though I will say that having sleepovers with kids could be seen as absolutely damning. It's just too bad that his status went from being the King of Pop to... this.

All being said and done though, if he actually committed even a fraction of these allegations laid out in 1993, he would have been found guilty in a criminal trial. The fact that it wasn't even brought to trial says everything you need to know.

I was in an arcade the day they rolled the machine out and plugged it in. I remember it being pretty good. Never played the Genesis game.

I played the hell out of the game on the Genesis... But this looks really different.. I'm going to have to try it

If they rerelease this, Gary Glitter and Ian Watkins would make perfect DLC characters.

If the game was based on Weinstein, Epstein, R Kelly, oh sure. In this case, nope.

It's so very clear how many people have to do their homework on this, but whatever.

Jackson belongs in that company, it's just a shame the bastard died before he could be brought to justice.

Good lord, people still talk this way? What are you basing this on? After the man died everyone mourned him, we lost a legend they said. But after that "documentary" people turned into mindless drones who can't think for themselves.

You do realize that they presented you with exactly zero, right? Anyone could make a film like this, make up the most disgusting stories because the person isn't here to defend himself. You do realize the man has been investigated 10+ years and they never found anything?

You do realize that an actual victim doesn't need to lie and make up several different versions of alleged happenings, right? Yet that's exactly what these two men did. That's exactly what they have in common with the family that were on trial, the Arvizo family, exactly the same with the Chandler family.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Watch actual documentaries, read up on actual facts and find out how wrong you are. But I doubt you will. In that case you'll remain willfully ignorant. The man wanted nothing but good for this rotten ass world, those that do research will find that out.

You could go watch Square One, the lies of Leaving Neverland and many others. I can provide you with good material, factual material if you care. But it not, ah well. I'm leaving it at this. Because it's not the thread for this.
