Yeah but this is a different dance... regardless of the fact that he's leaving he will definitely talk about this on his show on Monday.

Stern already talked about this, this morning. It's good that Powell is going bye-bye, but it's unfortunate that someone just as bad will most likely replace him.

What did he say? I keep forgetting to bring my radio in to the office so that I can listen to his show in the morning.

Everyone should walk around with an exposed nipple in celebration.

I usually do anyway.

I want to see Stern be great again. I'm very tired of hearing the same things: FCC makes me unfunny, I don't care...I don't care, I don't care, I'll leave, I'll leave. bla bla bla.

I want the show back when it was funny as hell - circa 1993 w/artie, not jackie.

BTW, can someone tell me what happened to Kasey?

From marksfriggin:

A lot of people are asking ''Where's KC?'' or ''What happened to KC?'' Well, I don't really friggin know. Over the past few months (late 2004) Howard only mentioned KC once. At that time, he said that KC was out taking care of some ''personal business'' and that he'd be back soon. Now I've heard that Gary (Baba Booey), who was making an appearance somewhere, told a fan that KC has left the show for personal reasons. Apparently he will not be returning. (Updated 01/06/2005)

Wasn't he also flipping out and began taking meds (and upping the dosage) around the time he left? I'm thinking that might've played a role in his absence.

Not a whole lot. Just basically what's been said in this thread. That Powell was unqualified for the job and should never have been there to begin with, and never would've gotten it if it weren't for daddy. And that in the end, it won't matter because someone just as bad or worse will take his place.

I was always confused if it was KC or Kasey. :)

Anyway the last I remember he was wanting to kill people but he knew that was wrong and would never do it. And he was on medication, but stopped taking it because he didn't want to be on anything everyday of his life.

Seems like him and Cabby should do a show together. :lol

BTW, I liked KC.

Cabbie's phone call to Howard a bit back was.... weird. He missed his court date too right?

The best part about Kasey was those crazy comments he'd throw out when Howard couldn't get someone naked. I remeember one time they were trying to get these 2 pornstars naked that were about to do a big gangbang and Kasay said:

"Come on show us already. In a few weeks that things going to look like a bowl of spaghetti."

I think his court date was either this past week or the week coming. I don't know if he missed it (haven't listed to Howard enough this week).

I find it sad that they rarely ever mention him. Hell they mention Jackie more and that was 4 years ago.

KC was hilarious, and my bet is that he is in rehab for alcohol and gambling. He won over 500,000 or something shortly before he left, and gambled it all away a few days later. They talked about it on the show after he came back from a short break.

A couple weeks later, he was gone again for "personal reasons"...

You damn right! Right now, it's one of three things:

1) FCC is out to get me

2) Satelite Radio

3) Beth

When Artie was doing AC/DC earlier this week, it was still great. But damn, this year is going to be a long year...

And F Jackie!

This is good news as long as he is not replaced with Copps who reports to Powell and is worse about the decency stuff.

http://www.fcc.gov/commissioners/copps/

Michael Copps (one of the FCC Commissioners under Powell) would be MUCH, MUCH worse. Look up quotes he has said - I think he wanted to enforce regulations against cable and satellite.

From http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DOC-245610A1.pdf

Successful resolution of the indecency issues must in the end include cable and
satellite.

Eighty-five percent of homes get their television signals from cable or satellite.
Most viewers, particularly children, don’t recognize the difference as they flip channels
between broadcast stations and cable channels. Because cable and satellite are so
pervasive, there is a compelling government interest in addressing indecency when
children are watching. Indeed, the courts have already applied this to cable. And let’s
not forget that cable and DBS make liberal use of the people’s spectrum too and this
incurs an obligation to serve the public interest. Cable could also explore such options as
offering a family tier so that families don’t need to receive channels like MTV in order to
get the Disney Channel. Commissioner Martin has made positive suggestions on this.
Cable could also make sure that family channels offer all family-friendly programming.
One other suggestion: Have Eddie Fritts call up Bob Sachs and invite him and his CEOs
to a more inclusive industry summit on indecency.

The only way this news would be better is if it said Powell steps down from FCC and into a pit of fire-breathing, venomous snakes. Then I might have a little relief. Anyway, good to know Senor Douchebag is gone, but who's next? And the FCC can't legislate shit against cable and satellite b/c the government doesn't own the cables going into the homes. I guess there's one positive to the extreme price gouging Comcast has been doing...they'll keep control of the content coming into our homes, so the government can kiss my black ass. The day they censor cable is the day I take up arms in revolution. PEACE.

Problem with O&A is that they're unfunny.

The feud with the Citadel? To be honest, I haven't listened for like a year, since I had no reason to wake up early (was unemployed) so I didn't know of that feud. I'm also relatively late, I started listening in '97.

Nah. Opie really isn't funny on the air, but Anthony and Lil Jimmy Norton are hilarious on a consistant basis. The XM shows have been really good.

Seriously, how could anyone not like Jimmy? He's in SPIDERMAN for christ's sake.

It still keeps me entertained for 3 and a half hours at work every day.

I listened to O&A all this week, just to check them out. I remember listening to them before XM once in a while, and they sucked back then. On XM, they're even worse. Not sure how it's possible. The conversations on that show are so boring, unfunny, and irritating. With The Howard Stern Show, I laugh quite a lot. With O&A, I just feel uncomfortable and embarassed. It's just very amateurish. Even when Howard was starting out, his show was funnier than O&A. The personalities have no personality.

Although I will give Anthony credit for a great Jackie impression, not that it's hard to do. I remember he was on Stern years ago to do an impression.

Oh yeah, and thankfully Stern is heading to satellite so I can finally get him in Canada. Sirius should be up here by 2006. Can't wait.

Just speculating, but I can pretty much guarantee it. Much Like Billy Tauzin, who as congressman regulated pharmaceutical companies, he now works as their lobbyist.

:lol Yeah, I really don't get the celebration here...it'd be like celebrating Dick Cheany taking the White House over from George Bush. Let's wait and see who the replacement is before we start breaking out the champange.

:lol Hey, it happens.

O&A are a bunch of hacks, let's just leave it at that. I've never seen so many people constantly deny that they're not trying to be like Howard, but blatantly rip him off. So unfunny, they just have on friends of the show come on and talk about absolutely nothing. There was actually a TV show like that, called "Tough Crowd." We all know what happened to that show. Just a bunch of hacks who couldn't carry their own show individually, so they decided to mesh them together...

And I don't think Jim Norton is that funny, either, cause self-deprecating humor gets old, fast. One of my best friends is an O&A whore, and just hates Howard now, but to hate the source of the material of your heroes is just a bit hypocritical.

High Pitch Eric is one of their regular fans/groupies who is just the most annoying and pitiful human beings on this planet.

Did you catch the E! show when he had that woman handcuffed to him.

"Come come quickly. There are black people over there I don't want them to see me."

She looked at him like she was about to knock him out. Hilarious episode.

It isn't all self-deprecating humor (isn't Howard guilty of the same thing). I always find if funny when people can enjoy one of the shows, and not the other. Both shows have their strengths and weaknesses, just like anything else. Who cares if Tough Crowd got canned? A ton of shows do, and there's a lot of shitty shows that ARE still on TV.

And Eric is really more of a Howard fan/groupie...
