Microsoft planning X05 showcase event

it will be good to see Xbox 360 games that are closer to what the final machine can do :)
European showcase event series resurrected for the launch of Xbox 360

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Xbox VP Peter Moore has confirmed that Microsoft is planning to run a European showcase event once again this year, where it will present its Xbox and Xbox 360 line-up.

The X events were the key events in the calendar for Xbox right from before the launch of the original console, when X01 in the French Riviera city of Cannes gave European media an early glimpse of the system prior to its March 2002 launch in Europe

The X02 and X03 events in Seville and Nice continued the series with previews of upcoming games and services on the platform. However, Microsoft didn't run an X04 event last year; but with the launch of Xbox 360 due in late 2005, an X05 event is now on the cards, according to Moore.

As yet, it's not known where or when X05 will be held, or whether an equivalent event will run in other territories. However, it should be noted that the X events have played host to some fairly significant announcements in the past - most notably the acquisition of UK developer Rare in 2002 - and as such, expectations for this year's event will undoubtedly run high.

It should be a few days after TGS, contrary to X02 X03 where it was a few days before (hence missing lots of japanese games still to be announced).

TGS should show off alot of the games allready, but this should be good for showing some stuff not seen at TGS.

This time it should have most of the content from TGS, plus a few new things.
That reminds me, did anybody try to get some informations about Rallisport 3 ? It was listed as being worked on for Xbox 360 by gamereactor (IIRC), but nothing has been said *at all* about this at E3.

Are this X0X events open to the public or do i need a press badge or invitation, or ?
And this time, consider Italy, thanks : )

I like what Microsoft is doing here. I imagine we're going to have a similar "launch" event for the media in the states a month before launch to build up the hype here too. Each territory should have lots and lots of targetted software for the 360 that could build tons of interest, unlike the Xbox launch where it was mostly mish mash.

N/A: EA stuff, PGR3 and other racing titles, PD0 & Kameo, Ghost Recon, Oblivion, etc.
Euro: Racing stuff, Soccer stuff, PD0, Kameo, EA's stuff, Ubi's stuff, etc.
Japan: Sonic 360, Winning Eleven, PGR3, EA stuff, Kameo, DOA4, etc.

Brilliant!

i'm working on it ;)

X05 should be aweome. those events in the past have shown off really great things, including (iirc) the halo 2 anouncement trailer

Press only. Too bad it seems they like to change places every year, the X03 @ Seville's Isla Magica was just out of this world :D

Maybe we could make up an Euro GAF meet up party for this year :)

Well, it's invite only to be precise. You can't apply like E3. If you aren't invited, you can't go.

Could be fun :)

They're having some sort of 'X05 event' in July in Japan too, hope there'll be some new stuff shown there... i.e. nextgen Sega games :)

I feel sorry for developers... it would piss me off if I had to try and finish a game for launch AND try to get something ready for 3 seperate gaming conventions. Hopefully MS has somehow compensated devs.
